Christopher Nolan?s masterpiece cinema MEMENTO simply re-iterates the very art of film-making. This is filmmaking at its best. This is cinema at its very best. This is art film noir at its best. Its very rare that there come about film as complete, as mind-bending and as nerve wrecking as this. Its also very rare that a screenplay of a film is this complete, this nearly perfect, this grandly entertaining and puzzling all at the same time. Any film buff with a taste for intelligent cinema must not miss this movie at any cost. Yeah, this movie is irrevocably that good.

While the basic premise of the story telling is what that makes Memento an incredible experience on screen, its also held together by some stunning direction and superb screen play. One of the best movies to have come in recent times, no, make that a decade, Memento is a mind-bend you will enjoy to solve. Memento must immediately be placed amongst the all time cinema greats and must be reviewed and dissected to understand the art of film-making. Memento is an experience that stays and haunts you.

There are some stunningly executed sequences in the movie that deserve a special mention, but perhaps it?s the beginning of the movie that really gets all of it. A shot in the head, a man dead and a climax revealed ? quite literally, a viewer is stunned viewing the climax of the movie in the first scene. But then that?s what sets Memento apart; its not about ?who did it? thriller, but it?s a ?why did it happen? thriller.

Traverse back then with the same man suffering from temporal memory loss trying to figure out how he got there in the first place, and his journey backwards. The very structure of this film makes this film so apart and so very original. Simply put, Christopher Nolan?s masterpiece cinema MEMENTO simply re-iterates the very art of film-making.

While you ponder over indefinite events of the movie and try them to put them together long after the movie is over, <B<MEMENTO< b>will often requires a second viewing to fully comprehend the movie. While you may have thought that a backward trail to the beginning is easy, wait until you encounter the first puzzle. Its not merely about going backwards. Its about why things went ahead the way they went. Instinctively, you are backward and you are ahead in the story all at the same time. While trailing backwards, you understand and move ahead in the story. Confused?

While the acting of the cast and crew is fantastic to say, it?s the screenplay which deserves the highest honors followed by the splendid direction. Guy Pearce is pretty competent playing the role and very effectively brings about his character to the movie. The photography has a dark feel about is, understandingly so and the editing is highly worthy of mention; Note the quick flash shots when he remembers his wife, or the change of colors from black and white to color.

While a pertinent color takes the movie ahead or backward as it is convenient to you, another takes you in the opposite direction. Confused? Don?t be ? such scenes are there a plenty in the puzzle. While there are some stunningly executed sequences in the movie that deserve a special mention, but perhaps it?s the beginning of the movie that really gets all of it.

For some, this movie is a pain due to its inherent complexity. However those who thrive on intelligent cinema will make note that writing this movie would be a really difficult job. Memento begins where all thrillers end ? A man kills the rapist and murderer of his wife. And yet, his only problem is ? the same incident made him succumb to a strange condition called temporal memory loss, where he can?t remember anyone or any incident after 10 minutes.

So while he kills the rapist and the murderer, he has forgotten how he even got there. He has his notes, his photographs and his tattoos and relies entirely on their information to know why he killed him Memento is his journey to ?why?.

The entire ensemble involved in the making of this movie deserves a huge round of applause. While the acting of the cast and crew is fantastic...
