All beautiful things come to an end, so is the trip to Mauritius. Lots of, has been already mentioned about golden sand, turquoise blue water, water sports and what not. Let me also contribute one more drop to ocean.
We took a 6 N, 7 D package from Thomas cook and boarded air mauritius plane from Delhi on 17th june 2010. Eight hours flight was something to test our strength, nbt overall a nice international experience, (except aged air hostesses..).
We stayed in Hotel Tamassa which is in Bel Ombre, in south of Mauritius. Hotel was really beautiful and a nice experience. South was full of sugar cane fields, mountains and greenery but isolated place. Not much activity there, no market nearby, no taxi stand nearby and completely dependent on Hotel facilities. But nothing to crib as hotel was self sufficient to provide lots of free activities from water sports to sauna, Jacuzzi, kids club and what not. Scenic settings were just postcard perfect.
Only thing we did not like were sight seeing tour offered with the package. In fact that is standard sight seeing tour which all travel agency offers, which leaves much to desire. FOr example, they take us to Botanical gardens in north but not to Grand Bay which is just 2 kms away from that. Unfortunately we had to spend one more day to travel to grand bay because that is the most happening place of Mauritius with beautiful beaches, super markets and casino. So plz do poper survey of places to visit before you plan a visit to Mauritius. There are so many places to see, and if you don't know exactly places of interset, you might end up seeing all those places which are similar to those in your own country like waterfall, fort, zoo and temples. Just insist on see more and more beaches and golf courses which are the most beautiful places. Don't expect much guidance from any one as all will explain things according tio their own interset.
One place We liked most was ille Aux Cerf, an island inside the island mauritius. What a beauty, water in laggonn was so clear that we don't get that clear water in our drinking water tanks. You can see some sea life like star fish and other water creatures even in shallow water.
If you are fond of water sports, many hotels provide some free of cost. But for many major activities you have to shell out minimum 10, 000 - 15, 000extra per person. I could do under sea walk and was amazed to see under sea life around me. it was just like walking an side an acquariu. Parasailing was another worth while experience. The major activity (as people explain) submarine, we missed because you need to book it 4 - 5 days in advance which we didn't know about.
Port Louis was beautiful, a huge mall was a noise experience, but local market was rubbish and just like rehri markets of India. If you want to buy something just go to super markets, you will get gifts for ur loved ones dn do lot of worthwhile shopping too.
Well, it's never ending process to write about Mauritius. It's beautiful, relaxing and refreshing. Just research a lot and then go there, Its full of places to visit. One cannot just behold the beauty of it in eyes. In fact it was so beautiful, I stopped clicking photos wondering which place to click and which to leave ou.
