I recently bought Matrix SIM at Chennai airport to use it for my short visit to the USA. The executives at the Matrix booth rolled out lot of promises, explained the tariff and gave me the SIM after collecting my credit card details. They said that the SIM card had been ’pre-activated’ and I can use it the moment I land in the USA. But, when I tried calling back home, it was not working at all. A fried, who travelled with me had also bought Matrix and he also faced the same issue.
We tried calling the helpline numbers written in the Matrix contract form, but was of no use. We then sent emails to the Matrix support and they activated the SIM from India a good two days later. A month later, when I received the bill, I was terribly shocked. It looked like robbery, plain and simple. They had promised some rate and charged the opposite. Also, they had charged for the interactions with their customer support (in-coming) also. I now feel that I should have relied on the International Roaming of my Airtel connection itself. International roaming charges are much cheaper than this ’Makes Sense’ operation.
Non-sense!
