While searching for a car, your mind often tends to shift either side very frequently. After all this is a thing you would not be buying often. Hence the scepticism and doubts are always justified. After a lot of brain storming with dealers and my frineds, I shortlisted three medium sized cars. Maruti Zen Lx, Hyundai Santro Xing, Martui WagonR.
As far as price is concerned not much of a difference can be found amongst all the three models. They go neck in neck. But which of them offers value for money remained to be seen.
As far as Santro Xing is concerned, the feedbacks were good, but the vehicle performed poorly on mileage front. Mileage of about 12-12.5 in city meant that it would really weigh heavily on your pockets.
MAruti zen was a good buy, but it's shape was less attractive and it's proximity to it's Alto and 800 models detered me to buy it.
WagonR has a great shape. The car has as elegant interiors as it's outer body. The tapestry and covers are fantastic. The wagonR Lx model is really value for money. It's on-road price comes out be around3.95-4.05 Lakhs depending on the city. The Lx model comes with power steering and central locking facilities.
The pickup of the car is awsome. On long Journeys the it's 1300 CC with 16 valves really rule. They behave like a good child. Moreover the car has space even for big families. The rear seat can be adjusted to sit 6-members and have a real ball out there. Also Maruti WagonR Lxi model provides a powerful air-conditioner.
The dealers are available in plenty and hence price can be negotiated due competetion. The dealers are also providing good services as maruti has got very strict on customer satisfaction. Good finance deals are also generally available.
The parts of maruti come at a cheaper rate as compared to the hyundai and other foreign companies. This makes maintenance quite easy.
The car can also be driven very efficiently on rough terrains as suspension is really smooth.
