I bought Grey Azure Vxi swift on 22-Nov-2006 from Bimal Auto Agencies,Indiranagar,Bangalore..Had done thorough research on models ranging from New Wagon R,Santro,Alto.My requirement was to go for a good family car,which would be used mainly during weekends and for my regular office commute (luckily my office is just 10km away).So car wont be used for more than 700 km per month and occasional long drives being planned to wonderful locations in western ghat area in karnataka.
In the beginning I wanted to go for Wagon R Vxi petrol version(with corporate discounts and everything,it was a very good buy).But then took test drive of Swift.Bimal Indiranagar were very good in bringing both wagon R and Swift for test drive right to my door step.Truely the car holds to the tag 'You are the Fuel'.Gear shift was sporty compared to bit notchy gear shift in wagon R.The wagon R interiors felt more airy than swift.But swift was more fun to drive and seat comfort was definitely better including thigh support.With good corporate discount,the diff between Wagon R Vxi and Swift Vxi was hardly 50K.and I felt swift was worth that difference purely from stability and driver friendly nature.
Pros:
1) Very good sportive drive and feel
2) This machine performs very well in highways and very stable .Handling is excellant
3) Interiors are neatly laid out(although this could be personal view)
4) Mileage cant comment as of now..seems like might be getting in 13-14 range in bangalore(mix of outer ring road and heavy city traffic)
The few cons:
1) Reversing a car takes little more effort coordinating all the three mirrors.But side view mirrors have very good view of the road,helps a lot and overcome this shortcoming.
I would like to add that Maruti customer service at Bimal indiranagar was good.The delivery was done as promised without any delay.
Sampath ,the sales leader was very polite and professional in getting test drive,deal through without any hassles.Because of sampath's handling this whole deal ,i finalised the deal with Bimal rather than Mandovi motors,who did not bother to follow up much on this.i will update how the after sales service goes with them.
