Once I decided to go for an upgrade from my wagon R I had decided I will go in for diesel hatcback, eventhough swift vdi was my favourite I took some time in deciding between Indica Vista, which was a close contender, went thru a lot of reviews and 3 test drives of Indica Vista, some reviews on mouthshut on Indica vista showed some serious quality check faults with Vista, Vista was in the race only because for its " Value for Money" tag, finally I decided to go in for Swift VDI( my brother told me you blindly go in Swift VDI, he has a Hyundai Verna, but he still feels Swift VDI is better than Verna).
even though I had driven Swift earlier, once I got delivery of my new swift( I got it after one n half month after lot of struggling) I was amazed by the ride quality of the vehicle. I have driven Chvvy Aveo, Ford Fiesta, but silky smooth driving is not with these cars,
power steering is so smooth that sometimes I feel loosing control on highways when I apply breaks, probably I should get used to it,
I have driven 1650 kms for 15 days, 500 kms after my first service, until 1st service it returned with 14 kms/ltr of diesel, after first service I went on a long trip which has returned 23 kms/ltr, probably because I refined my driving skills, After driving a petrol car(wagonR) for 4 years, when I look at the fuel guage it seems that fuel will never get over.
Space inside should have been little more, but when you compare other criteria, it really doesnot matter much, power windows switch on drivers side had a problem it was replaced during the first service, I had fitted a JBL component speakers on the front doors, because of the when I close the door with glass down it gives a small rattling sound thats b coz, of the speaker,
even though you find so many swifts on the road, its really a fantastic feeling to have a swift, it will create a bond with you, with its mileage and power it has got under its hood, its amazing,
if SX4 diesel match Swift quality and features I will plan for it once its in the market,
After sales Service of Maruti is excellent, I remembered Mr. Jagadish Katter former MD Maruti Suzuki before I decided on Swift, he had quoted answering a question on Vista, Swift, Palio have the same engine, he replied" people buy cars not engines"
I think either Maruti has understood indian drivers better or Indians are used to Maruti as they have been here for quite a long time. that is why Maruti manufactures cars suitable to Indians. like in Ford fiesta pick up is very bad, that is the reason it returns a better mileage, and chevy aveo the steering is hard, and in Mahindra Logan the clucth is very hard. Chevy UVA interiors are very bad, initially most of the Maruti cars didnot have good acceptance but later on people start liking it, like Wagon R when it was launched many people didnot like the shape, even Swift in the beginning, now Ritz after some time people will start accepting or liking it.
I have clocked 21, 000 kms, before my swift vdi turns one year, it constantly returns me with a mileage of 20 kmpl, I havenot noticed any chang in the vehicle so far even though it met with 2 small accidents sometime back, each time I drive I feel like driving a new car.
