I bought the Diesel Swift 2 months ago and have already done 4000 km. I am really happy with the car - superb pickup, superb fuel efficiency and good cabin space. The only downside is the boot space and some quality issues(especially in the front doors). On the highway without the AC and a constant speed of 80-90 I got 22 kmpl which was great - which is comparable to Maruti 800. In city I get 17 kmpl with AC partly on.

The pickup is superb especially after the turbo kicks in(@ about 2000 rpm) and hence overtaking is a breeze - you just need to time the overtaking with the 2000 rpm mark(and change gears accordingly) and the car just takes off. I crossed 160 kph on the mumbai-pune expressway. It is a real driver's car - you will enjoy every bit of it. Have put alloys which give me good handling.

My earlier car was the Wagon R and frankly there is no comparison between the Wagon R and the Swift Diesel - Swift beats the Wagon Rr in all departments but one(boot space).

I have had some issues with the wheel alignment which now appear to have been sorted out by the dealer. The driver's seat lacks thigh support. There also was a water leak in the cabin which I am yet to get sorted out. One may also face some issues with reversing the car due to low visibility and with slightly lower leg room for the rear passengers.

One suggestion to all the future owners - get the tyres changed to the broader ones - the company fitted tyres would not offer you a good grip - I got them changed to the ZXi tyres.

The cars a real beast! Go for it!

An update after 2 years of use:

I have now done 33, 000 km and the car is yet the same. I also met with a deadly accident in the car but did not even get a scratch on my body thanks to the car. the repair was done very well and hence it is yet working like before.

I continuously get the fuel economy in the range of 17-18 in city and 18-20 on the highway depending on how I drive:). The tyres are yet going strong. The engine works as efficiently as before. The average service cost is Rs 3, 000 to Rs 4, 000 per service. The service, as usual, is good from Maruti dealers. I really enjoy driving it on the highway than on the city roads - it is too powerful, I feel, to drive in the city - but nevetheless is completely usable in the city as well.

The only downside, perhaps, is the boot space - it is too tight. Otherwise the cabin is quite spacious and can easily seat 5 adults - it is much more spacious than an Esteem.

I continue to enjoy driving my car(especially on highways) and own the car:).
