I drove 25k+ and getting average FE of around 12.5 km/ ltr. People who complain about SX4 poor mileage actually are hiding their driving defects. A proper mileage depends on lot of factors as enumerated below based on my experience;
a) Always fill petrol from reputed pump and never allow your fuel level to go down below half;
b) Check your Tyre pressure every time you fill petrol
c) Change gear whenever required don't be lazy in changing gear
d) If possible use fully synthetic oil, though it cost more but it pays you back i) first it last for 10k km ii) you get vibration free drive iii) far better mileage iv) long engine life.
e) Use clutch only for changing gear
f) Try to de accelerate the car through gear maneuver if road ahead permits instead of using breaks at the last moment.
g) Never use fancy accessories which affects car electrical system
h) Lastly before moving in the morning give at least two minutes to car to warm up to operational temp.
i) Start AC only when car reaches its operational temp, or till first one km.
j) Always change the air filter after every 10k km.
