Ciaz is by far the best car Maruti has ever produced in India. After the debacle of its first sedan the SX4 Maruti has introduced its new generation Ciaz with lots of new age features and fuel efficient engine. Ciaz has also a hybrid variant which claims to be fuel efficient and probably the first hybrid car in the segment until now. I think it is the best value for money sedan in the country. It also provides a RS variant which looks sportier than other variants. RS variant has a large spoiler at the back and its interior is totally black with a grey chrome finish.
Ciaz has got killer looks. I like the clean long creases across the body. Projector headlamps fits well with the body, though LED lights still missing. 16” alloy wheel provides great stability and beautifies the car to a great extent. The rear side of the car resembles to Honda City and looks good.
Ciaz is powered by the 1248cc diesel SHVS that deliver 90 horsepower and 200 NM of torque at 1750 rpm, whereas the petrol engine is 1373cc and missed the SHVS technology. Company claims that the SHVS engine provide the mileage of 28km/l, but we all know in real world it depends on lots of factors such as driving in city traffic or on a highway, or the speed of vehicle, condition of roads etc. as I live in a small city, there is no much traffic I always gets more than 20km/l mileage. Which is not bad considering it’s a sedan.
It is comfortable from inside for 5 people. Thankfully we have armrest in both the rows and rear AC vents. We’ll get leather wrapped seats above ZDI/ZXI variants. The quality of the interiors is very impressive. It has got lots of features such as reverse parking camera with sensors, illuminating console box, push start/stop button, keyless entry, electronically foldable and adjustable ORVMs, steering mounted audio and call control, touch screen infotainment system which support ios and android phones. The inbuilt navigation system works really well. I must say my experience with this touch screen system is very good, never had any issue. The quality of the speakers is just amazing. Me or anyone in my friend group never suggested to get a bass tube into the car. And in term safety the car has dual airbag in front and ABS+ EBD braking system. In Swift/Dzire we all know the braking system is not safe. 510 litre boot space is also biggest in the segment.
For me this car seems promising and reliable. Maruti service network is the biggest in India(more than 3200 authorised service outlets). You will find a nearby service station for your car’s regular service or in case of any accidental issue. Spare parts are easily available. Cost of the spare parts is not mind-boggling plus resale value of all Maruti car is an additional point.
My verdict on this car- I would highly recommend this car. Ciaz is not only a fuel efficient but also one of the safest and most stylish car in the country. I am not a big Maruti-Suzuki fan because of various safety issues and there archaic designs. But this car tick all the boxes be it safety, design, fuel-efficiency, availability of spare parts and resale value. If you have a budget of around 9-10 lakh this car is must considering.
