Alto K10 is an entry level car in the country. Since it’s launch it has been selling amazingly. Recently this car has got a little a modification and also got an automatic variant. K10 got a 1.0lt engine which provides 67 bhp and 90 NM of torque. It has got 5-speed manual and automatic gearbox. Performance of the engine is good in the city but on the highway while taking those overtakes we feel that the engine must need more power. One has to downshifts for those quick overtakes. In this review I will tell you all you need to know about this makeover.
Exterior- while the previous K10 looks outdates, this looks modern, trendy and sharp. A large and wide headlight is a good change to have. Lights get a dash of chrome inside. The front chrome grill with “S” logo fits very well in the hood. The front bumper layout is very neat and clean. Only the top variant has the body colour ORVMs which can be adjusted manually. All variants comes with 155/65 R13 tyres. There are side body protectors available in all the variants. Wheel cap is only available in VXI/VXI(o). it also got new rear lamps which looks impressive. The rear bumper is kept simple and no. plate is fixed at its bottom.
Interior- when I first saw the interior I got impressed with it. The console and the dash has a black and beige tone and you can find out the features like USB port, AUX input and MP3 player. Front seat space is just okay. As far as rear row is concerned the knee room is not spacious. For a tall men head room is also a problem. It is a pain for tall men to get in to get out from the car. Three people at the back row and long drive is a nightmare. Boot is also not spacious.
K10 is a fuel efficient car. It gives a fair mileage of 18-19km/l on highways between the speed of 70-80 and a little less in city traffic. This happens because this car is very light weighted. Maruti uses the same engine with Wagnor and Celerio and a result the fuel efficiency drops down in those vehicles. But in K10 this engine works wonder.
The competitors for the Maruti Alto K10 are the Renault Kwid 1.0 and Hyundai Eon 1.0. But what advantage Maruti Alto K10 has is the Maruti Suzuki after sales service and resale value that no other car can give in this segment, currently. overall, if you are looking a car to drive only in the city then this car is worth considering.
