After a long time I've seen a good film. Manorama Six feet under is a suspense film which justifies its genre entirely. The film grips you through it 2 hrs with a tight plot and great cast performance.
Abhay Deol is Satyaveer, a small town nobody who had written a flop detective novel once and now had some small unknown journalistic endeavors on the side. He lives with his wife, played by Gul Panag, and four yr old son. Their life is a mundane mix of tiffs and everyday troubles..till one day..or night rather. Satyaveer is approached by a woman who pays him to spy on her minister husband. Satyaveer takes the offer desperate for some excitement in his life. Atleast now he had a chance to be somebody, and that too because of the novel he had thought was his great failure- so the woman of the night had told him. She had Satyaveer convinced that someone who had created a great detective for his novel was ideal for the work she wanted done. Hence begins the mystery.
If I write about the film anymore i'm afraid i'll reveal the suspense. Actors with small but as always notable acting were Vinay Pathak and Raima Sen. The movie is definitely worth one watch even if only to encourage original cinema.Gul Panag does full justice to her role, but the film was Abhay deol's from start to finish - even in terms of screen time. Abhay Deol seems to improve with every release and one thing I always expect from his film is something new and he delivered.
