Now if you are a Just Chill person who listens and passes time with Himesh Reshamaiyya kind of tunes then forget this album its not for you.My review just talks about the music nothing about the film or a preview, just wait for the movie for that.

It’s a Kaleidoscope Entertainment production and the music on Yash Raj Music, so couldn’t cater my excitement more for this hence got a CD for which you will have to shelve Rs.140 and Rs.55 apparently for an Audio Cassette.

The Advantage with Mangal Pandey’s music is its just 36 mins and Rahman’s renditions need time and peace to adjust with, this is not simple stuff and the songs of easy listening, See We aren’t hooked on to our Music System and listening to a 2005 composition, what we are doing is listening to the sound of 1857.

kailash kher and sukhvinder singh

This has 3 forms Main, Agni and Aatma, while Main and Agni are sung by Kailash Kher in Aatma he is joined by Sukhvinder singh, Now this is a Folk Tale kind of song and for me It is surely a master creation, why so because of the lyrics in this song are apt to the period and signify the spark of a revolution, Aatma is about Mangal Pandey apparently being hanged is a slow and a serious breakaway. The Rhythm is just pulsating and way Kailash Kher sings is just like a energized Folk singer of olden times is a treat, The song will be featuring people on an elephant roaming in the town to convey The Rising.

5/5 for it, Listen it.

~~Main Vari Vari~~

kavita krishnamurthy and reema bharadwaj

Now when did we last see Kavita in a Rahman album, not that recently and hence this song is something to look for, simply it’s a Mujra No. and features Rani, Reema Bhardwaj supports well but Kavita is the reason you should listen to this, Give this song some time to create a space in your mind, for me it’s a nice no. The usage of Tabla at start is fascinating, made me rewind the said portion for at least 5 times.

4/5 for it, it needs time.

~~Holi Re~~

aamir khan, udit narayan, madhushree, srinivas, chinmaye

A situational holi track which also has Aamir’s voice to it, the song belongs to Madhushree, a simple reason for that is the fact she has a classical range to render the aakars for a classical type lyrics, the song features wordings in Brij bhasha and basically signifies the Krishna and Gopis playing holi. The sounds of Daud title track was frame on frame evident here.

3.5/5, Looks apt with visuals

~~Al Maddath Maula~~

ar rahman, kailash kher, murtaza and kadir

It is a Ibadat song something like Haji Ali song from Fida and this one is more situational and hence for me it wasn’t that appealing to hear it at one go and hence I more or less skipped it coz of the nature of the song, But doesn’t mean its bad, Rahmanish song which will need visuals to find a meaning.

Update:: After hearing this song for 15 times this seems to be a good song and this is growing one me. Hence I am raising the rating to 4.

~~Takey Takey~~

sukhvinder singh, kailash kher, kartick das baul

There isn’t much clarity in the way it is being sung, The lyrics are also to be blamed in this regard as the main word Takey Takey itself irritates and way it is rendered differently doesn’t appeal me, but good thing about this it’s a breeze because it is sung a bit fast, Another aspect is the few starting tunes are resembling to the Saiyyan song from Nayak, well its Rahman’s also hence he is inspired by his own tunes.

~~Rasiya~~

richa sharma, bonnie chakraborty

The Flamingo used in this what makes me hear this song 2nd time and also Richa Sharma, the depth in her alaap is immense and powerful, the voice renders enough base to make me close my eyes and liking it. This is more or of a love song but a periodic one and lyrics might be difficult to grasp but as I said, it was the time when we had more artists then we are having today.

4/5, Flamingo makes it hit home.
