XUV5OO has changed the Attitude of Silver Jubilee

[REVISED]The story begins when M&M launched XUV5OO. We wanted to buy this and lot of googling and xploring yellow pages, we came to know that this car is available only with Silver Jubilee Motors in Pune Region.


So I called up their guys asking for a test ride... (As usual expecting that they will greet you with warm greeting and will schedule your drive) However the response was kind of shocking. Guy clearly told me that they can't send vehicle at my place and I need to come to their showroom. It was derogatory and I wanted to say "F you", but I had no other choice because I knew that vehicle is available with them only in the radius of 500 kms (except Mumbai). So I fixed appointment of 5 PM and mentioned that, please be stick to the timings.


When I reached at their showroom at 4:55 PM. their was "Pandaal" (tent) kind of thing at their entrance. Lot of people were sitting with White shirt, Kurta Payjamas were sitting (was looking like that a marriage is taking place). I inquired with the guy about my booking of test drive, he said that I have to wait for an hour. Now again I have explained him that I had already booked an appointment for SHARP 5 PM. Now that perplexed guy pointed towards those people who were sitting in Pandal, telling me that they all are waiting for test drive. Anyways my no in waitlist was 23 and I had to wait.


Finally after an hour when my turn came and I positioned my butts in cockpit. There were 2 men inside. One was co driver and pointing towards man sitting behind for my any queries. Man sitting behind was M&M product specialist and was more interested in taking my details(like salary, family size, how did I hear about xuv) rather than of giving me vehicle details. There were times when he was blank face for my questions.


Bad Part Begins


Anyways, finally after a short test drive we stepped into showroom for booking this vehicle. We proudly said that we want to buy this, what's next? Now definitely We were expecting smile on his face and a red carpet welcome. But against to my expectations he pointed towards a hall and asked us to be queued. (Even if you buy Maruti 800, dealer greets you and entertain you, but here we were buying a vechile cost 14 lacs, and we were'nt treated even like 14 pennys customer)


After a long wait a guy came to us and started filling our details (in between he told us that there is wait period of 6 months). When it came to color we asked for purple color, which guy said that W6 model doesn't ship with purple color, so you need to settle down for other color. (Now this wasn't mentioned in their brochure) Now its dam f when you spent 20 mins in discussing color and they simply said this color isn't available. So we upgraded our vehicle to W8 version. Now he gave us next shock that cancellation charges of purple color will be 10000/- (10 times more than other color) and wait period will be 7 months. We just wanted to close the chapter, so we agreed to it.


Worst Part Begins


He finally told us to submit the booking amount of 50K. (Guy out side told us that there are no surcharges on credit card for 10K). So we had 40K cash and 10K via CC. But the person at counter was adamant to take 2.5% on CC transaction. We made him that aware we were told outside that their are no additional charges on CC payment upto 10K. But he bluntly said that he dont know anyone here and we have to pay additional charges. We looked towards our sales person hoping that he will settle down this, but he raised his eyebrows with funny dialogue "Sir, accounts department ke aage hamari nahi chalti, yaha to saleman kuch bhi commit kar dete hain."


Anyways once again putting our arms down, we said ok grab the additional 2, 5 and leave us. and suddenly electricity failed. Accountant told us that power will be back in 2 mins. but even after 30 mins when power didnt come, we told them to collect the payment from office/home and provide us the receipt. Now sales man again came up with attitude "Sir, aap abhi dekar hee jao, aur koi time hota to hum aisa kar lete, but yeh XUV5OO hai, bahar lene walo ki line hai. Aap nahi loge to koi aur le lega". First time in my life I felt that I am no more a god being a customer. Anyways an another salesman came and told us that power will take another 30 mins to come as their is no diesel in generator (mind you that silver jublee has own petrol pump in same premises). Finally light came and we paid amount and came back.


But this deal has left many questions for me.




  1. Has one vehicle changes dealers attitude so much. Arent they able to digest success of XUV?




  2. 2.5% of 10000 comes to 250. Cant dealer leave this much small amount specially when he is doing deal of 14 lacs.?




  3. Why there are so dicrepencies between marketing, sales and back office person?




  4. Was this the right way to deal with customer at Silver Jubilee motors. Kothari Hyudai people sounds much better even if I go for my car service.






My serious advice to buyers that go for silver jubilee motors if you dont have any other options.

Got Delivery. Another Nightmare.


Guy has called us at 5 PM and he wasn't there. was not picking up phone. when picked up everytime saying 5 min sir. finally he arrived at 7. mean while I had escalated this issue to Managers and VP of Mahindra.
