I would like to give my first ever review on my favourite matinee idol- prince mahesh babu. There are so many one liners which suit him a lot. In fact, today in the whole set of contemporary actors he is the only unique actor who had shown a lot of variations in his movie characters right from his first movie. He had inherited daring and dashing nature from his father krishna gaaru.
Family background:
Mahesh hails from a popular tollywood movie family "ghattamaneni". He was born on august 9, 1975 to legendary actor nata shekara superstar krishna gaaru and his wife smt. Indira gaaru. He has one elder brother ramesh babu, elder sisters padmavathi, manjula and younger sister priiyadarshini.
Mahesh married bollywood actress former miss india namratha shirodhkar. She was his co-star for the film vamsi. It was said that they fell in deep love with each other while filming for that movie. However their love turned into wedding successfully. Their happiness had no bounds when they gave birth to their darling son, gautham krishna named after his grandfather.
Educational background:
Mahesh spent his childhood days in chennai. He had graduated in b.a economics from famous loyola college in chennai.
Filmy background:
Mahesh had don greasepaint as a child artist at the age of 5, for his first ever film needa(1979). After that he acted in 8 movies as a child actor and even as a hero too( in films like koduku diddina kaapuram, bala chandrudu as a teenage hero ). During his childhood only, mahesh excelled in acting, dances and fights. Many popular personalities in telugu industry, fans and audience blessed and wished him that he would become a future superstar and carry on his father's legacy. With in no time their wishes came true....
After a long gap of 10 years, he debuted as hero in rajakumaarudu movie in 1999.
From then he acted in as many as16 movies till date. Among them murari, okkadu, pokiri and dookudu are all time blocbusters in telugu film industry. He won critical acclaims for movies like takkari donga, nijam, athadu and mahesh khaaleja. He did an experimental movie named nani, though movie failed at the box office, it had shown a different dimension in the actor. Every actor has both hits and flops in his career, mahesh too had some duds but he striked against those string of flops with mindblowing hits which became ultimate blockbusters. Among his movies, pokiri(2006) had created a sensation like tsunami in tfi. It became the highest ever grosser in 75 yrs telugu industry and ruled for over 3 years. Later it was erased by some other movie but again this year prince striked back with a massive blockbuster named dookudu(2011) and according to the statastics given by its producers, now dookudu claims to be the top grosser in telugu film industry by touching 1 billion rupees dream mark.
Awards:
Mahesh won 6 nandi awards for his films like rajakumaarudu (best debut actor), muraari (special jury), takkari donga (special jury), nijam (best actor), arjun (special jury), ayhadu (best actor).mahesh babu is the only actor to earn 6 nandi awards in a span of just 7 years
He won 2 filmfare awards as best actor for okkadu and pokiri films.
He won 2 santhosham awards as best actor for okkadu and pokiri films.
He won 3 vamsi dlf awards as best actor for athadu, pokiri and athidhi films.
Acheivements:
Tollywood first hero to reach 1 million usd mark in just 2 days for his latest release dookudu...now he became the top telugu hero among overseas market with a mindblowing collection of around 20 crore inr. Right from pokiri movie, he had captured the top slot in overseas market. Even flicks like athidhi, sainikudu and mahesh khaaleja which were a little to huge dissappointments in homeground fared well and ringed cash registers in overseas market.
Mahesh is the first person in tollywood to get more than 2.5 lakh followers in twitter. Even a social networking site like twitter has got its recognition and immense hike in members in south india with mahesh joining in its league, thats why he was fondly called as "twitter babu".
When it comes to the brand endorsements, mahesh is the supreme. He endorses in and around 12 brands, still count is to be increased. Brands like provogue, thums up, vivel itc, jos alukkas, amruthanjan, navratna, univercell, idea etc..., have made mahesh as their brand ambassador in south. He is a james brand in ads.
He was placed at 12, in times list of "most desirable men of 2010"
His recent blockbuster dookudu has made its place in us famous weekly los angeles times. Even this movie was considered in us weekend box office reports. This is a rarest feat for any regional movie in india to make its presence felt in international magazines and box office charts.
Future projects:
Mahesh is making his foray into bollywood with businessman movie which is presently being shot in telugu and being dubbed into tamil and malayalam with himself....reports say that hindi version of busineessman will be shot from next year 2012. Besides mahesh is in talks with bollywood director kuki gulati (prince movie fame) to do a film. Even tollywood movie making gaint ss rajamouli is making a script ready to direct mahesh after both of them finishing their prior commitments.
Creative director sukumar has already got prince's dates for making a film and its pre production works are going on. Mahesh has given his nod to act in tollywood's first ever multi-starer film along with another famous hero vekatesh. Movie is going to hit floors from dec 16. Mahesh missed opportunities to work with south sensational directors mani ratnam and shankar but luck again favoured mahesh, reports say that shankar is in strong determination to direct mahesh in james bond like movie with a whoopping budget of 100 crores. Mani ratnam too had plans to direct mahesh in a urban love story. Some other big directors names like gamyam fame krrish, boyapati sreenu, a.r murugadoss, lingusamy (awaara fame) etc.., are popping out in the list of film makers craving to direct universal star prince mahesh babu.
