MSEB-Merely subdued electricity board. Review on Maharashtra State Electricity Board

For people outside of Maharashtra, this company provides us with electric power. Our government has succeeded in getting my attention towards the current power crisis in Maharashtra. Lets find out the facts at hand. We were all aware of the previous govt.'s deal with Enron and how it, the USA giants had to close the power plant. We also know that MSEB has been running at a loss and providing the people of this country with essential electrical power at subsidised cost hence piling up their losses. The previous govt. was overthrown, assuming they made their profits from Enron and left happy at least in this aspect.

Now the current govt. to the rescue has invited Enron to open shop again and asked for electrical power to be sold to MSEB at Rs 3/- per unit. This could cover up the shortfall of electrical power in Maharashtra. The current scenario is we in Maharashtra (Pune) get power cuts for 5 hours a day and sometime more. The govt. promised a fixed timetable for the daily power cuts but as usual not put to practice. Power goes just anytime irrespective of the time of day. The shocking part is that we pay the same amount in electricity bill as when we had power throughout the day and night. Does this mean we are paying up for the subsidised rate of power we received earlier and at the end of this trauma we would have recovered from the losses that MSEB is facing?

It is really disheartening to think that in this age and era we Indians with such degree of progress and of growth, with such levels of education and world wide recognition, have to face this petty problem of electrical power. I mean 1 human being invented electricity and another its generation, and here we are facing massive electrical shortfall with millions of educated and learned citizens in Maharashtra. And what can we do about it, nothing, and nothing at all. Chatrapati Shivaji would really be ashamed for all his hard work towards Hindavi Swaraj has been ridiculed and made a mockery of.

Who then is at fault, the only people I can blame is our government, our own rulers, Swaraj itself. I don't think MSEB is totally responsible but they are puppets. The Shiv Senas protested for the people and broke a few furniture but to no avail. I personally think, the power cuts will soon go away after the rains, its just a way of holding people to ransom in the summer heat to make way for Enron and our new government to lay down its path, after all who cares if our children suffer at home trying to get ready for school, sweating it out in schools or for that matter studying in the dark preparing for their board exams. We certainly don't care. The children will only be our future to run our country. We don’t care.
