Bollywood is experimenting with many topics these days.Be it the India-Pakistan unity in ''Main Hoon Na'',or lesbianism in ''Girlfriend''.

This week`s latest flick,''Madhoshi'' is based on the 9/11 incident, when the World Trade Center was attacked and destroyed by some terrorists. This topic is being discussed, for the first time, in Bollywood, with lots of typical Bollywood 'masala'.

The film tackles the terrorism issue, has the typical kind of ''dancing-around-trees'' romance and of course, sex. When Bipasha Basu and John Abraham, are there, sex HAS,to be there. But,this is no ''Jism''.The whole concept, idea and the story of the film is different from that,so don`t expect a ''Jism'' part-2. Well, the film has the 9/11 issue, romance, sex and an interesting storyline, so does the film look as good as it sounds? You can say yes,or no,both.

THE FILM:

Shweta Films.''Madhoshi'',produced by Anil Sharma and directed by Tanveer Khan, stars John Abraham,Bipasha Basu,Priyanshu Chatterjee,Shweta Tiwari,Smita Jaykar and Anang Desai.''What if the person you love the most in the world does not exist?'',is the question asked in this film.Of course, the question is a very interesting one,but what about the film?Keep on reading.....

THE CHARACTERS AND PERFORMANCES:

1.Annupama(Bipasha Basu):Annupama is a very normal kind of a girl, who leads a very normal life. She has everything in life, from a loving family to friends to a fiancee, but there is someone very special in her life, too, whom she loves the most, but, sadly he does not exist in the world.Bipasha Basu, gets to play, what we call an author-backed role again, after her recent release ''Rakht''.

Now,I`ve started realising that the actress has more to her than her skin. She has got the talent which an actress needs. In this film, she has done an excellent job, especially in the second half, where everyone tells her that there is no such person as Aman, and then in the scenes where she is admitted to a hospital. This film shows how much,is Bipasha maturing as an actress.Appearancewise,Bipasha looks very ordinary,in this film.Next time, she should look after her appearance,as well. After all,we always want Bipasha to look beautiful, don`t we?

2.Arpit Oberoi(Priyanshu Chatterjee):Arpit,is a successful owner of an ad-making company. He is the ideal man for every woman, but he loves Annupama, only, who happens to be the daughter of his parents` friends.

Priyanshu Chatterjee tends to overact a bit, in the first half, but in the second half he performs well. His character looks very irritating in the first half, and the writers should have made his character look more decent (in the first half),otherwise Priyanshu has also given the film, his best.

3.Aman(John Abraham):Aman works in an anti-terrorism organization and he is a very mysterious person, with whom Annupama,is on love. What`s the mystery behind his existence?

John Abraham, surprisingly does a wonderful job. There is a very mysterious look on his face, throughout the film, which really helps to make the film look interesting and his character,a mysterious one.He does an amazing job, when he goes to Annupama, while she is in a hospital.Let`s look out for more of his future releases.

Shweta Tiwari (Prerna, from the very successful Star Plus TV serial ''Kasautii Zindagi Kay''),as Annupama`s best friend,Tabbasum,is loud,in the first half, but otherwise,is brilliant,in the second half. She looks amazingly beautiful,in the film, and to tell you the truth, she looks far more better than Bipasha Basu.

Whenever,Bipasha and Shweta Tiwari, used to appear on the screen together,I just couldn`t see Bipasha,as Shweta was looking so much more beautiful than Bips.Hey Bips! That`s a competition for you.Smita Jayakar,as Annupama`s mother, fails to impress. She looks to artificial and fake.Same goes for Anang Desai, and for the rest of the cast.

THE STORY:

The story revolves around Annupama,a very simple girl, who belongs to a respected family.During the 9th September 2001,incident,when the World Trade Center is attacked, her sister, who is there in the U.S.A,also dies. This gives a shock to Annupama and her family. After 2 years, when everything gets set,in her life, once again, she gets engaged to Arpit Oberoi, who happens to be the son of his parents` best friends. When Arpit has to go to the USA,for making an ad-film,everything changes in Annupama`s life. While going for a college trip, with her friends, she meets Aman.

At that time, Aman is fighting with someone, and hands his revolver to Annupama.Annupama feels so strange after meeting him, that she goes back to her house. Then, she again meets Aman, who asks her to return his revolver back to him.

To return Aman`s pistol back to him,Annupama goes to his place, and there she gets to know that Aman works in an anti-terrorism organisation.Aman`s motive in life is to bring terrorism to an end,and so is the motive of Annupama`s life,as her sister also died due to terrorism.Annupama, later on falls madly in love with Aman and so,she rejects Arpit, which makes her parents very upset.

When she starts telling everyone about Aman, everyone comes to this conclusion that Aman is just an imaginary character and he does not exist in the whole world. Annupama, doesn`t believe so and as a result, she slashes her wrist. After her checkup, the doctors declare that Annupama is suffering from schizophrenia. She starts imagining things which are actually not happening and she starts loving such a person who DOES NOT EXIST.

THE WORK OF THE CREW:

Tanveer Khan`s direction could have been better. The first half of the film is terrible and it tests your patience,no end. There are such over-the-top moments in the first half, which try hard to make you laugh but actually fall flat.Infact, there was no need for such moments,in this film,as its subject is a very mature one,and this mistake of the director or writer, will make you feel that the film has not been justly treated.

Coming to the positive side, there is no doubt that the film gets very interesting,as soon as you get to know that Aman is an imaginary character. You get no time to blink, and the director has handled such scenes very well. When,Annupama takes her mother to Aman`s house and a sweepress tells them that nobody lives at that place,is one such interesting scenes. Also, the scene, where Annupama is admitted to a hospital and Aman appears there is a very dramatic one.

Screenplay,is half-baked and no character has been justified, well.Annupama`s character is a very confused one.She just doesn`t do anything according to her own will, like she gets engaged to Arpit, only at his insistence. Then, she is so confused about her feelings for Aman,as well. Also, her parents seem as if they just don`t care about their daughter.Their daughter is romancing someone who doesn`t even exist, and amazingly, her parents dont even know what their daughter is upto.
