For the past few weeks I was pondering whether to give wireless BB a try. My BSNL broadband of 750 UL plus does just fine; but BSNL being a government agency in this small city of Durgapur has certain service limitations. My strongest need is because I have to frequently attend work e-mails and overseas phone calls (via skype) during non-office hours. Therefore was literally forced to take up MBlaze as a fail over solution. Phton and Netconnect ain't here yet. During the purchase, I was told that the current offer was Unlimited (Read 15 GB fair usage) net for a week if I paid 248 rupees first recharge. I paid 2299 for the premium USB device while the 1999 was not available because of technical complaints !! I really dont understand how a company sells its USB devices while announcing that its basic version has technical problems. And the premium version only has a micro-sd slot as an added feature. I read on this review panel that others got 15 days on new connection.
Whatever hitches may be during the sales process a stable , robust, high performing product always sells and soars. I really don't feel this product is going to stay here very long. Their strategy of targeting B cities may has shown some initial promise. The performance is poor to say the least. The download speed hovers around 20-50 kbps during the day, mostly on the lower end of the strata. There are quite frequent disconnections in the afternoons. Sometimes the device just doesn't connect at all. The skype calls are all blurred , noisy and filled with robotic and metallic din. Worst part is the the CPU usage of the MTSdialerapplication cuts through the machine performance. What else ? The company does not want to invest in infrastructure butlaunchesunlimited plans to further its user base. If asked to choose between Photon orNet-connect(whereveravailable) this provider would certainly be a complete NO NO.
