First of All, This is my Comeback review at Mouthshut nearly after 2 and a half years. So I hope I do a good job.:-)

Now coming back to the review thingy.

Every film, be it Singh is Kingg or Sankat City, has a purpose. A purpose that drives its makers to take an initiative on the project. However, Films like Luck make me wonder if the above mentioned condition is really a necessity or just a myth I've had.

If you want great writing and riveting performances, Luck is definitely NOT your cuppa tea. The script is quite awkwardly written(unbeliveably enough, because the director shares the writing credits with Rensil D'Silva who wrote Rang De Basanti) and the performances range from Hamster-samples to a mere display of stiff expressions.

While Sanjay Dutt and Danny Dangzongpa exemplify the former, Imran Khan just goes through the motions, killing almost all the promises One had from him after the charming'Jaane tu.'. Time for some serious re-thinking, boy!

And If you want plain non-brainer Entertainment, Luck is still not a very recommndable product either. The action sequences are very deftly executed(full credits to Allan Amin), and the film maintains quite a good pace till the interval despite not being a "thriller" as such.

But things go quite haywire after that. There is a romantic plus emotional angle thrust in between too and barring a moment between Mithun and Chitrashi Rawat, it just doesn't work. And the most saddening thing of all - Despite overlooking the fact that Its predictable right till the climax, Its just not entertaining enough!

We do like to have our Dhooms and Dhoom:2s at regular intervals, but This is not likely to join the game of these Modern day Cults.

The locales of South-Africa are fantastic ofcourse, with the Cameraman just about succeeding to do justice to them. The One-liners by Sanju baba and Danny may appeal to some, while will irritate the others most of the times.

Having said that, I have to say I am not really keen on Action films. So High chances are. Action film lovers may just as well love the Stunts, Good Action scenes and the Visual appeal of the film. Though Luck is nowhere a match to the Hollywood fairs, Its not a bad one either more so considering We don't get to see that many Big budgeted action-oriented hindi films now-a-days.

Ravi Kissen starts off nicely, but his character gets lost somewhere in the middle. only to return as an antagonist. So not done! Chitrashi Rawat surprisingly has a Mumbaiyya Lingo, leaving the audience confused about her nationality.(Her character is supposedly from Pakistan)

Shruti Hassan's performance depends on different perceptions; Some may lable it as Non-acting while the more hopefuls will call it asunder-played act. I will go for the latter, I guess.

Final verdict:

Luck is more likely to fetch mixed response from the audience for its content which belongs to a seperate genre altogether. All n all, I would recommend it . only to Sanjay Dutt loyals and Action film lovers. Here's hoping for a better entertainer in the form of 'Love Aaj kal'next week.
