Too unlucky to watch “Luck”

Last night was a disaster, Sunday night is anyways a not ideal night for movies when there is office next morning, but when the movie is like "luck", you are already out of "luck"! T

Though looked like the idea of the movie came from Jean Claud Van damme’s movie Hard Target [though not exactly the same], but exploited in various other English movies like arnie’s blade runner etc.. this one disappoints major time.

The story about Moussa bhai [Sanjay Dutt in yet another gangster role] who is a ring leader of a killing game of “luck” who is the luckiest man on the earth [may be] and running this Betting empire on internet where people around the world bet on the luck of these lucky few!! His accomplice Danny Denzompa [an amazing talent wasted in a trashy role] finds people with strong luck and offer them [a winner] 20 crores to play this killng game in remote part of South Africa.

The “lucky” people are Mithun Chakraborty, Imran Khan, Shruti Hassan, Ravi kissan, shortcut [a cute gal from Chak De who played Jatt gal [bhais ki pooch]] and half a dozen foreigner extra whose background is not important to Indian audience, so not shown :-)

The weakest point of this movie is not the story [it very well might be] but the dialogue, as mentioned earlier the dialogues are Soo... hamming that, you will started feeling irritated by it in first half hour, every character in the movie speaks like he is either a poet, a philosopher or is a Rajkumar reincarnated [but with a bad accent and pakau dialogues]. And oh my god, the word “luck” mentioned in the every sentence of the dialogue spoken in the movie... is unbearable cruelty to the ear and mind!!

Also only 1 song plays over and over again doesn’t help either and that also has word “luck” in it in every line!! It makes you think and wonder and question god, why he made this word called “luck”!! I think the first thing Soham shah needs to do to improve his “luck” is fire the dialogue writer of the movie [and leave him on his “luck”] and he might be third time “lucky” after the lukewarm “Kaal “and now “Luck”!

About the performances Sanjay Dutt is again a gangster Karim Moussa the ring leader of the game of “luck”, is good but how many times he likes to play the same role of a gangster? Danny Dengzompa is a great actor, I am always a fan of Danny since childhood, and he is a perfect villain any movie industry can have! After the sad demise of Amrish Puri, it’s again time for Danny to rise once more, a super villain of hindi cinema like his days in late 70s and 80s! About the new girl shruti Hassan, she looks really good but she lacks the spark of her dad Kamal Hassan and mom Saarika, though she does have all the sex appeal of her mom and even looks like her in many scenes! Also improving hindi is a priority for Shruti.

Imraan khan looks good and but still needs some polishing in terms of showing emotions on screen [some more lessons from uncle Aamir would be great!]. Mithun as ever doing justice to his role. I really like to say something here about Ravi Kissan, I haven’t seen him acting in Bhojpuri films, but the guy needs some really serious acting lessons, a funniest serious killer with walk like a girl [watch him closely when he walks among all the participants in the sands of south Africa during the first challenge, it’s hilarious!!] also when he is firing from the top of the train at Imraan khan, same fake laugh and expression through out the shooting spree and also when he escapes the hanging!! Awful hamming from Ravi Kissan!

About the treatment of the movie, it is good, but the story needed to be tighter and the dialogue [oh god I can’t stress this enough] needs to be more realistic and normal! The dialogue writer needs a slap to wake him up and somebody needs to tell him that this is not 80s!! Nobody talks like this anymore [I doubt anyone ever did talk like that in even 80s accept Rajkumaar [or Shotgun sinha]. I guess movie is one time watch as a novelty [but with mute button on or dubbed over with new dialogues, put your creativity to use and dub it in your own voice!!] .

About the music, nothing special accept the hamming “luck” song which keeps on playing in the background in various mood every five minutes and the promo song which comes at the end of the movie which is kinda good! All and all, watch it at your own risk! Or if you are fan of 80s action movie dialogues!!
