And once again, the great cellular phone wars benefit the users. BPL has now introduced the Acubill, which they claim, is accurate to the last detail. They also say, well, if not, they give you a rebate of Rs. 100/- in the next bill. The billing system at BPL is now handled by some imported billing system, which has a proven track record.
Well, skeptical as I am always, I had a doubt in my mind. I have heard a lot about the BPL billing being erroneous and that the users end up paying a lot more than they are supposed to. Well, thankfully I never had such a problem with my BPL billing. While checking my bill, I usually do that quite haphazardly and I skip a thing or two, but I just came across a charge of some amount for a service, which I had unsubscribed for. Actually there was an error while sending an SMS to unsubscribe and the amount was charged. I generally called up the customer service department of BPL mobile, which is so prompt, helpful and sweet, that sometimes I feel, whenever am feeling low, all I have to do is, call up the toll free number and generally chat with them. The lady on the other end, verified my details and informed me, that she has put in a request to waive off that extra charge. Also, that as per the new Acubill, I will receive a rebate.
Hey, I thought to myself, I never even had to ask for it. Infact, I never knew, that it was available, as there was no error on their side. This has really reinforced my trust in BPL despite the common man’s verdict about their billing.
Curious as I always was, I compared various networks at various places with various cell phones and found BPL to be the best bet. It works in my office as well as building elevators where the others fail. In the local trains and rickshaws too, it is much clearly heard than the others. I had bought a BPL because of the network, ALWAYS being scared of the billing, but now, thanks to the Acubill, I can relax and put my mind to other things, than check my bills from start to end, which I hate.
