I chose this show room for two reasons.
I am not going to shell out more money - I am in a rented accomodation i.e, shifting every 2 years. I don't want to buy something in Lifestyle and damage it during transports.
They have multiple showrooms in Bangalore, so a tinge of reliability.
What I needed:
5 seater sofa, budget of 20k.
6 seater dining table, budget of 20k.
What the market offers:
A good durable art-leather sofa costs 30K onwards.
A stylish, steel framed set with tempered glass attached to the frame by laser means costs 35K onwards.
What looking good offered:
5 seater sofa of art-leather costed 19k.
6 seater dining table in a low-grade teak wood frame and a glass top costed 21.5K.
Product/Sales review:
Sofa:
The sofa came out well for the color option we selected(kinda peach/beige to give a light contrast to our wall paint) and it was delivered by time. Neighbors and relatives appreciated the product for the price we paid. The sofa is good, comfortable and no complaints. It has been 6 months and the 3 seater unit is an intermittent squeak i.e, the wooden frame inside the cushion is giving in. In one of the 1 seater unit, the stitch is stretching the leather and will likely tear in a year(thats a small segment of less than inche, so I can get a local repair done).
The sofa is very much in a usable condition. The squeaks are only audible to my ears, because I paid the money. It's hardly audible for anyone else.
Dining table:
The entire set looks very elegant. We opted for peach coloured art leather chair cushions to contrast the dark wooden frame of the set. They have done a neat job, however the glass sits on the table by vaccum pull of a rubber bush and the weight of glass acting over it. The rubber bushes are mounted to the table frame with a nail. These nails aren't properly pushed in and in a couple of points, the glass is scratched to a minute extent(size of the nail's head).
The finishing is fine and wood looks strong enough(looking at the weight). The wood is actually bruised and they have polished to mask the defects in the wood. That's fine, I take it to be a cosmetic treatment.
Conclusion: I am happy for what I paid. I am not looking for the sofa to last more than 5 years. The sofa may need an interim repair after 3 years(which leather sofa doesn't)? The dining set will last a few y of years more due to the nature of use.
Will I go there again? Yes, if I am not ready to spend more on my next purchase. If I am showered with riches, I will go for Godrej!
