Do you feel the country is safe in their hands?

I just went through Suyog's review and thought of writing one myself. Election results are out and as usual ifs and buts stuff has started.

Whatever happened, the results of this election brought an end to the reign one of the finest PM in India?s history. Thanks to Atal ji, India learned the basics of coalition politics and yes, it was his very charm and persona that was responsible for BJP completing the term. Having said that, there?s no doubt that Atal ji never had the good team to work with. Barring the likes of Shourie, Jaswant Singh and Yashwant Sinha (Sad that he lost) all other were sheer dumb.

No wonder IIMs celebrated Murli Manohar Joshi?s defeat. LK Advani and Fernandes, though held high profile posts, could never get out of their typical union leader kinda 70?s image which relied on high talks and provocative statements. People like Modi, Mahajan and Togadia also never helped his cause.

But yes he was the person under whom India saw tremendous growth in IT and became a software powerhouse. Vajpayee ji reminded me of Karna in Mahabharata, good man on the wrong side.

Now please don?t jump into making conclusions that I?m a pro congress person. To me they all are what you call in Hindi; ?Ek hi thali ke chatte batthe?. But yes, I feel that Sonia Gandhi is very much Indian, just like we all are and to be frank far more Indian then the likes of Mayawati, Mamta Banerjee, Jayalalita and Modi. BJP remained in power for 5 yrs and still they could not pass the resolution barring a foreigner to be the PM of the country.

So till the time we have our constitution changed, Sonia is and should be as good a candidate for Prime Minister Ship as anybody else. The real issue instead should have been her inexperience which sadly nobody looked into.

Somebody also mentioned that it was Rahul Gandhi who won the elections for Congress. That in fact is not true for the credit for Congress?s good show belongs to Sonia and none else. It was she who took over Congress when it was in total disarray and when BJP was busy being over confident; she made it a point to connect to the people. And yes I found her silence over the whole Foreign Issue controversy very dignified.

To say that BJP appealed only to urban class was also proved wrong as the results in places like Delhi and Mumbai showed. And you can?t neglect the rural people. Shame on the so called educated class which though educated never exercise their voting rights and then blames the poor for election results.

Everything said and done, the results are out and congress is bound to be in the driver?s seat. As a common Indian, my prayer is that who so ever rules the country takes it to the newer heights and does good work to lift the poor and the needy.

Lastly, let?s see some young fresh faces; at least they will infuse some enthusiasm and energy. Of course there will always be a Siddhu and Dharam paji to infuse that action and drama always associated with Indian parliament.

And as far as my choice for the PM goes, guys why don?t we give the chance to gorgeous Priyanka Gandhi(Did I give you an impression of having a crush on her, I hope I did). Those who still have doubts, why I say so, check this out https://specials.rediff.com/election/2004/may/13elecimg3.htm
