What makes this people to become the household rage in India, its the performance. Among the four guys mentioned above are all great performers, but one person I think is most superior of them all and it's Leander Paes surprised. Every one should be wondering why I did not mention Sachin Tendulkar though I one of his diehard fans. I would like to explain :
First of all in all mentioned 1 to 3 numbers they are team men but Leander I know when he plays doubles he has to team with someone, but he has played doubles as well as singles no matter in double's he has won the grand slams and made India proud, but in singles although he has not performed so well but you have to give him the credit that whenever he has played he has given the best challenge and to his credit he has even defeated the best seeded players.
Who can forget his dominance in the Davis Cup & most of all when India participated in olympics nobody tought that India would ever win in an individual event and Leander did just that he played and won the bronze for India and India was on the list of medal winners in the Olympics.
In Cricket, Football, Hockey no doubt the individual talent is required but they need help from the others also. In Cricket when Sachin pushes the ball in the gap and takes run if the runner does not respond he could not take the run. In Hockey and Football if there is no proper pass then there is no possibility of scoring the goal. But in tennis when you play you have to play alone and with highly competitive people like the likes of Andre Agassi, Sampras, Goran, Henmen etc.
Leander Paes did not make his name in the singles circuit in the grandslames or other professional singles circuit but when it came to play to his country in Davis Cup he has played out of skin and every one in the world are puzzled about this, the great coaches in the world do warn the players about Leander Paes and they play him with full strength, so is Leander Paes the best Sports Personalities in India. In the recent tie against New Zealand he won both of his singles and doubles convincingly.
When the music of India Anthem was played in Olympics when Leander Paes won the bronze medal for India, really everyone in India must have held there heads high and applauded Leander. Who imagined that Leander playing with Martina Novratilova could ever win the Mixed Grandslam and It was really heartwarming that Leander showed great skills and matched the legend in each game.
We are really proud of Leander Paes. And we all wish him that he re-unites with Mahesh and the Lee-Hesh pair will once again be the Number One team in the world.
