Psst - This section contains some inside trivia about the film

Quotes - Good One Liners from the movie

Oops - Goofs from the movie

Director– Rajkumar Hirani

Screenplay– Rajkumar Hirani, Abhijat Joshi

Murliprasad Sharma aka Munnbhai(Sanjay Dutt) and Sarkeshwar aka Circuit(Arshad Warsi) are back. This is not a sequel but just another story with the same lead characters and different situations. While the business of being the local goons is going great guns for Munna and Circuit, there is another story running in Munna’s Life. He is deeply in love with popular Radio Jockey Jhanvi(Vidya Balan). As a part of a radio competition, Munna cheats his way to win a place to have a live chat show on air with Jhanvi. The only thing is that the competition was on Mahatma Gandhi and Munna makes Vidya believe that he is actually a History Professor in a college and a Gandhian by Heart. The twist comes when Jhanvi asks Munna to come to her Grandfather’s house and give a small speech on Gandhism to a group of Old people. Munna has now little over 5 days to learn all he can about Gandhi. When he goes to the library to read all that he can about Gandhi, his life changes forever. He actually meets the soul Of Mahatma Gandhi(Dilip Prabhavalkar), who not only promises to help him give his speech and win the heart of Jhanvi, he also promises to make sure Munna takes the path of Non Violence and Truth in order to achieve that. But the part of Truth is never easy. We also have an evil builder, Lucky Singh(Boman Irani) who has vested interest in the bungalow where Jhanvi’s grandfather resides with his friends as this is a prime plot for real estate business. Interesting and original concept and to some extent even more better then Munnabhai – MBBS(Which was really a rip off of Patch Adams). Brilliant Performances by Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi. Well Supported by Dilip Prabhavalkar, Boman Irani and Vidya Balan. A sure shot hit from the Vidhu Vinod Chopra Camp. Nice music, which could have easily been avoided. Good direction by Rajkumar Hirani and an original Script by Abhjat Joshi although I believe it has shades of 1994’s comedy – IQ starring Meg Ryan. Don’t give this a miss folks, they don’t make movies like this any more.

Psst -

1) The movie was delayed by a good 6-7 months after the demise of Sanjay Dutt’s father Sunil Dutt and he went in a depression as he didn’t feel like doing the movie without his father who had a role towards the end.

2) Arshad Warsi rejected the role of Gohar Mirza in JP Dutta’s Umrao Jaan(To be released in late 2006) for the role of circuit as he felt that this role provided his re-entry in Bollywood.

3) Gracy Singh was considered for the role of Jhanvi but was replaced by Vidya Balan after a brilliant performance in the producer’s earlier hit, Parineeta.

4) The running tittle of the movie were Munnabhai meets Mahatma Gandhi and later on Munnabhai – 2nd Innings.

5) Rajkumar Hirani had a story line in mind where a person goes in to Coma in 1947, just before independence and gets awakening in 2005 and how he helps bring the Gandhi culture back but he felt the story would not have got any takers and hence this movie was born.

6) Even before the release, the producers and directors have announced that a 3rd part of the Munna-Circuit Series would be released.

Quotes

1) “Yaha sub Yedey hi aatey hai.”

2) “Apun Gandhigiri main number 1 hai.”

3) “Apney class main sub number 1 aatey hai. Koi saala number 2 aata hi nahin.”

4) “Gandhiji ne bola tha ki koi ek gaal pe maarey to doosra gaal do. Lekin yeh nahi bola tha ke koi doosrey gaal pe bhi maarey to kya karne ka.”

Oops-

1) This one may be debatable. Jhanvi works for Worldspace radio which is actually a satellite radio service. However we see some of the people in Munna;s neighbourhood hearing the show on a normal radio without the aide of a cable or an external antenna. This would not be possible as for a Worldspace connection you need a worldspace device connected via cable or if it is without a cable, it would have a small external antenna.

2) It is not possible for a Police Car to have a world space radio installed in the official police vehicle as it will disturb and distort the radio frequency of the Police Wireless Channel which is mandatory in all official police vehicles

3) When Munna Asks Victor to go near the radio while he is on air talking to him, he asks him to raise his radio volume. This would have resulted in a lot of disturbances while chatting on air which is not seen or heard in the scene.

4) In the 1st scene, the kidnapping takes place at Inorbit Mall – Goregaon and the subsequent scene has the car at Nariman Point near The Hilton Hotel. How on earth, did they manage to cover a distance of nearly 45-50 KM within 10 seconds ?

5) Lucky Singh is shown staying in a plush Bungalow which is in a suburb and Munna clearly stays in Town. So how does he commute from the radio station lucky’s house in a matter of seconds?

6) Worldspace Radio has its Indian Headquarters and the base where the programs are transmitted in Bangalore and not in Mumbai.
