LML launched its premier bike LML freedom during July. In the motorcycle world where Hero Honda rules with dominating half of the market by introducing killer bikes like CBZ, and recent Ambition, which is the upgraded version of CD 100 promises to go higher if you have a burning desire. Well LML has a desi version of song giving you much wanted Azadi, Freedom i.e. Now the million dollor question or Sawal 10 Lakh ka ‘Does LML pass the toughest test of consumer, buyer admiration, satisfaction, quality with sales? For the satisfactory answer we will have to wait for probably a year or so. At this moment we can predict a lot by just having a test ride and background technical knowledge. I just did that with my friend.

Looks:

Looks could kill you. Well hold on what’s it all about? If outstanding looks could kill you then better not drive one. I’m sorry all I mean is if you see a LML freedom going past you better be on the safer side of the road or else fantastic looks would definitely drive you crazy and in to a dangerous situation. LML Freedom beat all of its current competitors in this department and does make you forget the existence of outer material world. The one I had a test ride with was blue in color. Days are gone when we had conventional square frame bikes like CD 100. The aerodynamic, sleek design of the bike adds a fresh look to it. After CBZ only Freedom designers seem to have put a lot of effort. Desperate attempt made by TVS Suzuki Fiero manufacturers to give it a sturdy yet sleek look still amuses me. I mean its not just important to try to hide the ugly machinery with metal covers painted with brand name it has to have a articulately designed frame to support it. Full marks to LML on this aspect. About the looks any one can express their views but to tell about the features you need to drive it to.

Engine

The engine is 110 CC with a maximum power 8 bhp. I would call the engine power moderate. Compared to around 150 CC of CBZ, Fiero, Eliminator and Pulsar it nothing but it is well above CD 100, Splendor and Caliber Club. There has been a group of power bikes and mileage bikes. Well TVS Victor has tried to put everything in it from mileage, Style, Power and Low price. It not like what it sounds. Aren’t we aware of the old proverb Jack-of-all-trades master of none. But today’s marketing trends are close to the saying. You can’t rely on one specialization you had in your MBA. As a management personal you need to have a little bit of everything. That’s what they ought me during my MBA and well it’s true to some extent. Pickup is great as compared to splendor and caliber in low gears. I know splendor a lot since we used to own it, now I feel bad calling it a Splendid Splendor in my previous review.

Mileage

You can’t really tell about the mileage and maintenance by taking a test ride. So you will have to rely on the company specifications. The person at the center was kind enough to spit out each and every detail of the bike. He seemed so convinced that we would buy the bike immediately. I can’t afford it right now but my friend is certainly giving it a serious thought. The claimed standard average is 85 kmpl under specified conditions. However from the experience it should give an average of anything between in 55-70 kmpl. Of course the mileage depends on road conditions and driving conditions. You can expect a minimum in traffic-congested city.

To mention few notable features you cannot change gears if the bike is on side stand. So this gear lock avoids any unexpected incidents with it. Brakes are drum based and they try to make it big to give sound brakes. However I feel they could have had disk brakes like in CBZ to make it near perfect. Just a thought though, I know we don’t get everything in 42000 Rs. The low cost is one major advantage of the bike. So overall it’s a 4.5 star rating bike and being on the positive and lenient side I would rate it 5.
