This is part 1 of 2 on the 2 LG LSA##Z series. The review was too big to fit into 1 piece. The other part deals with the LSA13Z, this is for the LSA19Z.

I am not even sure how to or what to write about this. I did not want an AC but there was some bad mosquito problems as well my neighbors LG AC which was opposite my window and that creates so much noise I wanted to move right away but my wife convinced me to move to a different room. So since I had only been here a week, I decided to get an AC to be able to live here.

I looked at a lot but did not have too many choices. I wanted a plasma filter, which cut down the choices drastically. I also wanted it to be energy efficient because at the time elec rates were rising and I figured if I used the AC for 5 years I would recoup the extra cost. Not knowing much about AC's, I decided to find out. Remember, there can be great AC's but if you dont have access to get it, they are all pretty useless. You have to take what you can get.

Now I am not sure about Indian sales people. But these guys must think they are gods gift to the human race or something because they think they can screw you, tell lies to your face, wink and nod to other people around you while they talk to you. I have had some of these guys talk in another language to their friends in front of me about how they will rip me off. I dont care about the price if I can get what I want so I ignore it.

So I started looking. But LG is so convoluted in their naming schemes, there are so many models which takes a course to figure out. They change names in every country. Their Indian web site dont work for most things, for what it works, it gives very little info. So I had to look at other info but since model numbers and features are different I had to guess. But then I narrowed it down to what I wanted most and that was a neo plasma filter and energy efficieny. I setteled for the LSA19 and LSA13, the rest off the numbers are the grill color and other things, the 19 is 1.6 tons because its not exactly a 1.5 ton. Takes 1575 watts while a normal 1.5 ton takes 2200-2000 watts but the AC is not rated. The LSA13 is rated at 5 stars so they want the same price for the 1 ton and the 1.6 ton even if the ERG rating is the same, The LSA19Z actually has a higher rating than the LSA13Z means it is more effiecient. This is what I talk about the sales people. They wanted to charge me more than the list price because the 1 ton had 5 star rating sticker and the 1.6 ton did not. I showed them the numbers and the morons seem to think I was an idiot and they kept talking no matter what. Anyway I am going too far ahead.. I kept telling them I did not care about all the eye, climate control and multi speeds and stuff because each of them adds an extra 2K to the price tag in each segment. I was getting the top end of the model anyway.

So I ordered the 1.6 ton LSA 19Z S which is Silver, the others are Blue and Gold. They would not sell it to me without a stabilizer so I had to get that as well and it cost 32K. It came the next day and I went in to the shop. They opened the box and the the acrylic panel was cracked. Well they throw these stuff around so I dont see how they wont break. It seems to be the indian norm to throw something instead of carrying it up or down. So they ordered another one and said they would replace the panel later on.

The next day the installation guys came. I told them specifically how to install it. I wanted the indoor unit above my work desk so the air would flow in front of me. But no matter what, they would not do it. They wanted to install it over the window because they said the piping is shorter. I was like but you have 10 feet of piping and 2 extra feet is not far. After 15 minutes of arguing I left. They started straighting the piping without measuring anything and started their installation. After a few minutes I heard a loud bang and later found out they cracked the plaster in the window sill because it was on a beam. I was already livid but didnt say anything. If I said anything I would throw these idiots out. Now with a AC mount you can put this anywhere outside, thast why I got the mount to begin with. But they placed it right next to the window. Okay fine. Then they dragged the outdoor unit up on a steel ladder. I mean they dragged it not carry it or sliding it on a wood piece., pulling and pushing it on the ladder. I just looked on in amazement. I wanted to ask them if they had just spent 30K on something would they like it if someone dragged their stuff on a hard steel surface. Anyway they hooked it all up and there was like 5 feet of extra piping. I ran to my wife and told her that they wanted to cut that up. So she went and talked to them and stayed there so they would not cut it and they left it in a wide arc instead of the neat coiled roll that pros do. Then they wanted a pipe for the water drain. Now these guys never tell you anything they need for installation but only after they do half the job. The manual specifically says how to wrap the copper coils and water drain etc but none of that was told or done. Then they went to buy the water drain pipe. Then the indoor unit would not start.. Because the unit was dropped and the fan had become dislodged. They got it working again after an hour or prodding and pushing it and when leaving wanted rs250 for the 5 feet of plastic water pipe on top of the rs250 tip we gave, . I just wanted to get rid of them so I gave it and slammed the door,

The AC itself is not bad. But you cant tell if the neo plasma works or not. So the led is lit for it. But so is the outdoor unit led and they can both be disconnected but the led can be saying they are on.

Since the indoor unit is so far away I get no air from it. The room has to cool a lot to feel comfortable. None of this is a problem in a country with cheap electricity or no power problems. The front acrylic panel since its a separate piece gets dirty in between and you cant clean it, its stuck to the cover plastic but moisture and dirt can get inside. so once it gets dirty it looks ugly. But over all, it cools and is a power saver so I cant complain about that. The unit works... No problems for an year now. But since it either has to be set on high to feel comfortable as the air is going to only the corner part of the room which also means much higher elec bills.

If you didnt get it by now. The installers wanted to take the rest of the copper pipe so they made it out so they could have the shortest distance between the units. Another problem is, the elec socket is under the window so if there is a water leak, it drips right onto the stabilizer and the socket. If you set the unit too high, there is so much water flowing that it leaks no matter how you set it up. Even a few drops is enough..

Words fail me to describe these people.

And you would think I would have learnt.. But a few days of lack of sleep and mosquitoes and heat and all the garbage burning around here would do really wonderful things to your thinking. Read about that in the second review on the LSA13Z I got a few weeks later. I just wanted to sleep. Any way I possibly could.
