We saw Aishwarya Rai,with her real life love Salman Khan in ''Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam'',and the film was a big hit.Now after five years we are again watching her with her real life love Vivek Oberoi,in ''Kyun! Ho Gaya Na....''.Will this film be as successful as Ash`s first film with her real life love? Now,that is to be seen.As for now,the Aishwarya Rai and Vivek Oberoi pairing seems to be very interesting. The catchy title and excellent music have already raised lots of expectations amongst the audiences.Does this film lives upto the expectations?Well,if you`re expecting it to be an entetainer, then luckily the answer is 'yes',but if you`re looking for a masterpiece, then, sorry!

THE FILM:

Boney Kapoor`s ''Kyun! Ho Gaya Na....'',directed by Samir Karnik, stars Amitabh Bachchan,Vivek Oberoi,Aishwarya Rai,Tinnu Anand,Om Puri,Rati Agnihotri,Suniel Shetty(sp.app) and Dia Mirza (friendly appearance). This film brings the two off-screen lovers,Aishwariya Rai and Vivek Oberoi for the first time on-screen.Will their on-screen chemistry create any magic?

THE CHARACTERS AND PERFORMANCES:

1.Raj Chauhan(Amitabh Bachchan):Raj Chauhan is a very happy-go-lucky and a hyper kind of an old man.In his home,he also runs an orphanage, and he has dedicated his life to those orphans. His another mission than giving a good life to orphans is to make Arjun fall in love with Diya.Amitabh Bachchan does an excellent job,as an ideal uncle. This kind of a role could have been done only by an established star such as Amitabh Bachchan, because it is a brief role, but making a brief role,a memorable one is not an easy task. So,this is where Amitabh Bachchan succeeds.

2.Arjun(Vivek Oberoi):Arjun is like any other young boy. He is a very energetic and a lively person. He also loves all kinds of sports, and he doesn't include the words 'failure' and 'love', in his dictionary, and oh yes!He doesn't believe in love and only believes in arranged mariages.Vivek Oberoi plays Arjun`s character fairly well, but could have done a better job. He overacts at places and if you will notice, his hairstyle keeps on changing constantly. There is something fishy. Although, he looks like what he is playing and fits in the character to the T, still there is something missing. At places, you will feel as if he did this film just for the heck of it.

  1. Diya Malhotra(Aishwarya Rai):Diya is very much different from Arjun. She completely believes in love and doesn`t believe in arranged marriages. She wants to take an exam for getting a degree in social work,as back in her hometown Coorg she used to work for the children in her uncle`s orphanage.Aishwarya Rai seems artificial and fake at some places, but does a fine job throughout the movie. At least, she tries her best.Although it may sound cliched, but I`d still say that she looks amazingly beautiful in the movie, though I felt that she could have looked better without those curls.Let`s hope to see her performing a 'bit' better in ''Bride and Prejudice'' and ''Raincoat''.

Of the rest, Tinnu Anand is his usual-self,as Diya`s father. Om Puri as Arjun`s father gives an excellent performance. Rati Agnihotri as Arjun`s mother also gives a good account of herself.Suniel Shetty,in a special appearance, does the same thing what he has been doing in so many films-acting sweet and speaking Hindi in English accent. Dia Mirza,is there just to add star value to the film.

THE STORY:

Diya is from a middle-class family who lives with her father,in Coorg. She is also a social worker there, who takes care of her dad`s friend and her favourite uncle,Raj Chauhan`s orphanage. She wants to get a degree in social work,so to take her exams, she leaves off for Mumbai. In the train she happens to meet Arjun, who is very different from Diya.

Diya believes in love where as Arjun does not.So they are both as different as chalk n cheese.A co-incidence takes place, when Diya goes to stay at her father`s friend`s house, who turn out to be the parents of ARJUN.He is a complete spoilt brat and a sporty. As they start being together, they start becoming each other`s friends.Diya falls in love with Arjun but Arjun doesn't feel the same thing for Diya, and so Diya gets heartbroken. Raj Chauhan, wants Arjun to fall in love with Diya, too. Will Raj Chauhan be able to make Arjun fall in love with Diya? Will Arjun identify his feelings for Diya? If yes, then will he be able to express his love for Diya?

THE WORK OF THE CREW:

Samir Karnik`s direction is alright. There are some exciting scenes,in the film.Like, the car race scene,is very exciting and beautifully shot,as well. The scenes where Diya and Arjun start understanding each other and spend some time together are also entertaining. So,there are many entertaining light moments in the film, but there are many flaws, there as well. There are many boring and dragged scenes, which get on your nerves, and you wish that those so poorly executed scenes wouldn`t have been there in the film, like the second half which shifts it focus on some irritating children and childish games.Dialogues are witty.

Screenplay is half-baked.The characters just seem to be so confused. There is just no solid reason for as to why does Arjun doesn`t believe in love and love marriages. His character is very poorly defined.Raj Chauhan`s character, though very loveable is still a bit confused. Why does he play a cupid? Why does he want Arjun to fall in love with Diya? Also,Arjun`s character`s sudden change is also not so well-defined.

Script is a very simple one and the plot is waferthin. There are many cliches in the film, which may remind you of many other Indian movies. There is nothing much interesting in the story, except for some scenes where you expect the film to take an interesting twist, but sadly nothing happens.

Editing is weak. The film is dragged alot. You will keep on waiting when the other scene will come.

Cinematography,is brilliant! The film is so fresh in its look,There are many wonderfully shot scenes, like the car race scene and all the adventurous scenes like the one where Arjun and Diya are flying in a helicopter.

Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy`s music is very nice.''Pyaar Main Sau Uljhanein'',is very well picturised.''Aao Na'' is the best song,in the movie. It is a very romantic song picturised beautifully on Vivek Oberoi and Aishwarya Rai.''No No'',is also very well picturised,in a very different way.

ON THE WHOLE:

''Kyun! Ho Gaya Na....'' is a time-pass film, which has its share of flaws. There are many loopholes in the film but this statement can`t be wronged that it is a complete entertainer. Also, the film consists of a great star cast and a good music as its plus points,so there is no harm in watching this film for at least, once.Have popcorn and just enjoy, while watching the film!
