Disclaimer: Forgive me if this review may have come to no use to any of you all because you have practically read enough about it. Though this review is practically just for the heck of it due to the fact that I’m dying of boredom. You know how slow I am when it comes to Hindi films. :(

As I sat in my room alone immobile, thinking of what I should do. The ice cream which I ate out of laziness and depression brought me to such a horrible brain freeze that I closed my eyes tightly out of the icy pain...(hehe icy pain!). As I looked at the strange cassette on top of the television set..the name was..Kyun Ki. Starring Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor..the jhodi I always wanted to see acting together! I started to watch it, whilst cursing Himesh Reshammiya for not putting my jaanu Sonu Nigam into any of the songs to sing...bechara Sonu. Kitna paisa kama sakta tha... :P

Since Priyadarshan is known to be an average director whose films practically go along well with Salman Khan. Most of his films have brought in such a good reputation to Bollywood, though I wouldn’t really take them as unforgettable films. After all the excitement of waiting to watch this film, I’m not saying it was a horrible, uncool film which is not worth for one to watch. The story seems decent but as a director like Priyadarshan, it’s disappointing to find so many silly faults in this film. There is a meaning, but the meaning could have been brought out to the viewers in a much different way. I think Priyan rushed the story too much.

Anand (Salman Khan) is a handsome guy who is madly in love with Maya (Rimi Sen), who wants to become a nun and sacrifice the things a girl would always want to find, which would be love from a guy who would love her. She wants to give up her true happiness for God. Though she too loves Anand but deny’s in ever expressing her feelings to him. Though being convinced by him that God can only have happiness once he sees your true happiness within whatever you do. When she finally reciprocated her love for him.

Maya was always up to creating pranks and annoying Anand, just for fun, and he would always take the chance in joining those pranks. Once at a party, Anand assumes Maya is thinking of another prank whilst brought to the thoughts of “how do people swim?”. He took it as another prank and threw her in the swimming pool. Not knowing she really didnt know how to swim, he finds that she is no more.

Anand then went on to the state where he put all the blame onto his shoulders, when he was losing his mental senses and is admitted into a hospital, where Tanvi (Kareena Kapoor) is left to take care of him and help him gain his memory. Anand’s most close relative, Sunil (Jackie Shroff) left the whole aid of helping Anand regain his memory and leave the hospital as his own self again. Where she succeeds in it. Knowing that she completed her mission, she falls in love with Anand. Dr. Khurana (Om Puri) has fixed Tanvi’s marriage with a guy Karan (Sunil Shetty).

Shakes her head with pity thinking...”bechari Kareena...”

Characters

Salman Khan did an awesome job to my thoughts. He really put himself into the character he was given to act like and I found his acting cutely funny. He was destined for this role and I don’t think there is any fault in him in this film, coz it is the director who directs! Not the actor.

Rimi Sen didn’t come to any of my attention in the film. I was hoping maybe someone like Mahima Chaudhary would do this role perfectly as a supporting actress in the film. Rimi’s acting wasnt bad but I just find that she was not destined to act in this film because it just didnt suite her too well.Kareena Kapoor did a good job though the flashback in the film caused her to be less in the film. Though her acting was a good average for what one woud look out for. She can make a little more effert while working with Priyadarshan.

Jackie Shroff brought in something more relatively different this time. Om Puri shouts too much so forget about him! :P Though i'd say he did his usual acting as always..

General Thoughts

Salman did a pretty good job in the film, never really seen such acting like that from him. His way of behavior in the hospital are also hilarious in the way he behaves with his fellow colleagues. The plot seems rapidly sad in my thoughts but I find the humor spoils the way the audience views it in their minds. The director rushed into the story in such a different manner. There are some scenes which can just be too filmy and more like overreacting. Where he then brings in the whole part where Salman throws Rimi into the swimming pool at the party. There were so many people there. So, she could have shouted for help and besides there were so many people around! Wouldn’t they even notice her drowning? It brings a very notifiable effect to the scene which has to look more tragic rather than just thinking of directing the movie without even trying to bring some reality into the audiences mind.

It’s a sort of new love story actually. Well I wouldn’t really bring it on as

“new” but the effect to how she Kareena ends up falling in love, how Rimi dies, and how Salman becomes insane in a way. The director brought in the character of Rimi as to her death was compelled because of her own silly joke. Which doesnt really show a big and tragic effect. It’s silly.

The director also brought in a filmy way to cure such a thing as “mental loss”. Kareena sung the song Salman had once sung to Rimi. There has to be a stronger effect to that as well. Priyan rushed in to make his memory come back too quickly.

Songs

I had first listened to the album before watching the film and in my thoughts it didn’t really match in well with the atmosphere. Most songs like Jhatka Maare! I was thought of it to be a type of song to do with Holi, silly me thinking there would be a Holi scene in the film :P Instead it was choreographed in the mental hospital only! The title track Kyun Ki Itna Pyaar was taken out at the party and I thought it would have been taken out in a garden or something. Dil Ke Badle Sanam song seemed to be more like the song which should have been meant to be sung at the party. Aa Jeele Ek Pal Mein is alright, no special doubt about that. The song matches to the state of nature which went in well with the atmosphere. Dil Keh Raha Hai was pretty cool as well. I thought it was decently choreographed. Thought no doubt all the songs are wonderful to listen to!

Conclusion It doesnt matter if this film could have been released to a much later date. It may have seemed like total madness to others but if Priyadarshan worked a little harder in making the movie seem more real the the viewers mind I think it would have had a much profitable amount of people who would like the film. Good time pass but you will get irritated by such silly faults...
