I was studying in Amritsar in the early 1970's and I remember this restaurant at the end of Lawrence Road where we all spent some good ,bad ,hard as well as fun times.
The cook would sit out with the huge pans to boil milk , some would be frying ''puris'' and we would go round there and all order tikka, chole , huge glasses of buttermilk. The tea was simply out of this world.
In summer after the sun would set which was late we would then go to eat their 'Fruit cream'' which would melt in our mouths .
The staff even though returned to Amritsar after a period of ten years were still courteous and Mr Darshan Singh the manager a soft spoken man was still there and was as kind as he always was.
Their milk cake was simply out of this world with different flavours and out side one man would be frying round rings in pure ghee which was delicious.Their service was good except the usual small things which would go wrong otherwise we used to enjoy our food there.
We would love to go back and have it's food again.
