As on Dec 2004: The saga of a weeping woman The opinion about most of the characters stand same, but the opinion about the serial has definitely changed. Now, I see nothing but flaws:

(Since the list is in the reverse oreder, the rest are in the comments page. Check it out)

  • After 18 years, Abhay’s Arundati Chachi’s daughter is still in the house (she was supposed to get married to Sid when he decided to marry Kusum). And cousin Abhay gets married four times. Strange maths!

  • Mahi who is basically a nautnki wali was initially a typical ghati, who used to address Kusum as ''madam'' and Abhay is'' Abahhy sir''. Not only did the Kapoor family accept her into their family as a member, but married her off to Abhay as well. She is now a classy woman, who wears nothing but designer clothes, speaks polished English, and calls Abhay by his name. She now tries to remind Kusum that she is from a middle class family and offers her a job. People change, but like this? Tch Tch.

  • Abhay is Kumud’s boss. Though Kumud talks to her mom about all other things in life, she does not tell her mother where she works or who her boss is.

  • Abhay and his parents are supposed to love Kusum a lot, but after her death, there is not a single photo of kusum in the whole house.

  • Kali has never seen the photograph of her mother, whom she has often referred to as ''Kusum mom'' before she meets her personally. Stranger still, she never wanted to see how her ''dear mom'' looked like. Never ever questioned her family for a photograph of her mon who is loved and respected by everyone.

  • Abhay once had brain tumor and was treated in the US. After that Ahbay is the best of his health without any follow-ups a cancer patient usually does periodically for years. No relapse so far--great treatment.

  • Isha’s character changes from a friend, to a souten, then to a friend, and then to a southen again, and then to......... I am totally confused!

  • Do people put in all their energies, thought, life, money, and effort in troubling one person (as Isha does in the serial)? Do they have nothing else to do in life?

  • When Kusum marries Sid, Abhay marries Sid's aunt. What a relation. Ex husband becomes uncle 

  • Abhay married four times (Kusum, Sid's aunt, Kusum, Mahi).

  • Kusum is supposed to be a sumangali (that is why she was married to Abhay in the first place and then remarried to him again, to save his life). Then how did Sid (he is her 2nd husband) die?

  • Kusum is married thrice, but what a tragedy, she is still single.

Last but not the least, all the characters in the serial seems to have the dire need be given a course in communication. They make big talks when not necessary or when not required. When the communication has to be done, and when it is really required, they prefer to keep mum. But of course, the serial will not run for this long, if communication takes place. After all the problems can come up only due to miscommunication and misunderstandings! I am being foolish here.

Kusum has suffered and suffered, sometimes because of the others, and most of the times because of her own self. Now looks like her daughters life is going the same way as hers.

As on 11 Dec 2002: The saga of a soft-strong woman

I will not discuss the story line here, since you may be aware of it. I just want to mention certain things I like and don't like about certain characters and may be add a few words about the performances as well! The views presented by me are my personal opinion and may differ exclusively from what others have to say or feel!

Overall, this serial is tolerable--this is the one of the two serials I watch regularly. A couple of loose ends here and there, but then nobody is perfect!

Kusum: I like the character of Kusum. Like the serial Heena, she too has a lot of miseries in life, but Kusum is stronger of the both. She is sweet, caring, understanding, down to the earth, respects her elders, has a lot of patience, but stands against certain situations with dignity. She is an ordinary middle class girl (as Sid's aunts often refer to her as) ordinary who possess extraordinary grit and determination to overcome various obstacles. I think many girls can relate to the way Kusum feels--what did I do wrong to suffer all these? The lady playing the part does good justice to the role.

Sid: I love the character and I am bowled over by the actor too :)

Abahy: No character in the character :) The character of Abhay is spineless, over obsessed by himself and his feelings, no love or affection for almost anyone. The guy playing the part is equally worse in acting. He just has one expression painted on his face all the time, irrespective of the emotion he is supposed to show. His diction is even worse. A total misfit in the serial. Can't be called an actor at all - can't act.

Aaryaman: I like the character. He is someone who adds a little bit of smile in Kkusum’s life. He is reasonable an understanding. But the actor, like Abhay is a misfit (better than Abhay though). He ha

s a look on his fact which gives me a feeling that he suffers from constipation.

Esha: This is a confused character, sometimes loyal to her friend, but then sometimes the love for Abhay takes over. Then she becomes the vamp! The actress has done justice to the role.

Lalli Chahu: I like the character of Lalli Chahu, who inspite of knowing his wife's character gives her ample chances and opportunities to improve herself.

Lalli Chahu's wife: The character is a spiteful, woman who loves money more than anything else in the world. She is even ready to trade with her husband for money. She loves her son, but then you wonder if the priority still goes to money. Hope she would live a normal life and let the others live as well. The actresses has done a good job!

Arundathi Chachi: Her top floor is empty. Need to provide her with a thinking machine! The actress is OK!

Sid's aunts: The typical, ''we have nothing to do and let us interfere in everybody else's life policy''! The characters are colossal pain in the ''you know where''. The actresses play their part well!

Jyothi: The character of Jyothi, Kusum's sister, married in the Kapoor family is of an understanding sister, and a wife. The way she handles the situation when her younger sister is infatuated by her husband is note-worthy. I like the actress too. She is pretty and talented!

Abhay's parents: They are level headed parents. Not the typical ''my son can do no wrong'' kind of parents. Kudo's to such people who stand by their daughter-in-law and and makes her daughter-in-heart. The actors also play their part very well.
