Perry pictures ''Khwahish'',produced by Vivek Nayak and directed by Govind Menon stars Himanshu Malik and Mallika Sherawat,in the leading roles.This film is one of the most talked about film these days because of its BOLD scenes and BOLD dialogues which are not used in Bollywood,usually.Moreover,in this film,the actress Mallika Sherawat has been dressed in the SKIMPIEST clothes we have seen anyone,in recent times.Other than that,there are 17 smooches in this film,between Himanshu and Mallika.The film is called ''Khwahish''but it failed to fulfill our ''Khwahish'',because of several reasons.
The story revolves around Amar(Himanshu Malik)and Lekha(Mallika Sherawat),who fall in love.Amar belongs to a rich family and is the son of a rich father(Shivaji Satam).He dislikes his father and his favourite hobby is car racing but his father wants him to study MBA.On the other hand,Lekha is the daughter of a chicken farmer(Mahamud Babai).When Lekha was a child,her mother died and throughout her childhood her father looked after her and fulfilled all her needs.Amar and Lekha study in the same college and their love starts when they kiss each other.This kiss is not the simple kiss but FRENCH KISS.These(FRENCH)kisses lead them to love but Amar`s father tells his son that if he wants to marry Lekha then after his marriage,he wouldn`t ask even for a rupee.Amar agrees to this but he does not have money to study MBA.Lekha asks her father to give them the money which he had saved for Lekha`s wedding.Her father takes 25,000 Rs.out of that amount and gives the rest to his daughter.This way,Amar studies MBA.Well,both of them go to honeymoon and the couple decides that they won`t give birth to a child,so soon,so they buy condoms and afterwards,Amar gets busy with his work.Lekha takes musical classes and so,she is also busy.They then,decide to have a child but unluckily,it can`t happen because Lekha is suffering from BLOOD CANCER.
The film seems to be a mixture of Kareena-Fardeen starrer ''KHUSHI'',Tusshar-Natassha starrer ''YEH DIL'' and Vivek Oberoi-Rani Mukherjee starrer ''SAATHIYA''.The story is nothing new but the dialogues and treatment are new.The makers have tried to make this film look fresh but it gets BORING,instead.
Govind Menon`s direction is strictly O.K.The film could have been made better but he has not treated the film so well,as much as it could have been.He failed to make the film entertaining.OnlySEX is not enough to entertain the audience.There was sex in JISM and it was liked by everyone because it also had an interesting storyline,which made it successful.The film cannot work if the actress exposes throughout the film.This formula is not so effective.
If there is a plus point in the 3 hour long film,then it is the climax because of Mallika`s excellent performance.She excels in the film throughout,but in climax she has proved that she is no less than any other newcomer.
Screenplay is the weakest link of the film.The film has sex,comedy,romance but FAILS.The screenplay makes this film even more weak.Uday Devare`s cinematography is eye-filling!The cinematography makes the film look fresh.Dialogues are daringly different and are the highlight of the film.In the trailors we can see the lead pair using abusive language and to attract the audience to the theatres,these kind of trailors are being shown on the television.Also,they are showing sexy songs like ''Jaaneman''to attract the audience,but as I`ve said,they are not enough to make a film a success.I would say that the dialogues get funny and are great,though they are abusive!Anand Subaya`s editing is poor and the film is dragged with unwanted scenes.It seems that some scenes have been FORCED to be in the movie so that it can be 3 hours long.Sorry!we didn`t enjoy.Milind Sagar`s music is the plus point!All the songs are sung by Asha Bhonsle and it is an album dedicated to Asha Bhonsle`s fans.''Jaaneman''(Oh!No not the video),''Baala Baala nacho re'',and ''Muskuraati Hai'',are some lovely songs.
And now the performances!
Himanshu Malik after the successful ''Tum Bin'' has improved a lot,in acting department,as well as in overall appearance.He has acted very well and can be a GREAT superstar,if he works in more sensible films than this and if he uses his talent in right way.
Mallika Sherawat also acts well.She is capable of doing wonders and I think she should cover her body and then act.She can also be a GREAT actress.If she went unnoticed in ''Jeena Sirf Merre Liye'',then she is noticable here,especially in the climax,she is outstanding.She will go places,not because of her figure(only)but because of her talent.
Shivaji Satam tries to act well but falls flat in an unwanted role.
Mahamud Babai leaves a mark.
Shabaaz Khan registers an impact,in a small role.
On the whole:
''Khwahish''belies all the expectations.It`s not even a good time pass.It is boring and dull!Your ''Khwaaheshein''will be shattered so avoid it.
