This DVD was on discount at Indiaplaza.Com so I thought, why the hell not, I'll buy it because at least Fardeen is a hottie even though I find Kareena to be outrageously obnoxious. This movie was actually on the same caliber as 'Mujhse Dosti Karogi' in terms of it being a fun, light-hearted, forgettable film for the young & ''young-at-heart''. So on to the movie, our two main characters, Khushi (Kareena Kapoor) & Karan (Fardeen Khan looking oh-so-sexy) are supposedly destined for each other since they were babies as we are lead to believe. Their very first meeting was at the tender age of one year old while their parents were sari shopping in Bombay. They touched hands & then it was instant Pyar. Cut to the next scene : Enter Khushi in song number #1 - 'Khushi, Khushi'...in all her full glory, aping around in the rain wearing a pair of supershort denim shorts & various tight fitting tops as the rain, waterfall, and the river, and a slew of villagers celebrate her arrival like the Queen of Sheba. We get the idea that she is a spoiled brat. I guess life imitates art & vice versa because Kareena's role is no different than all the previous roles that she's done like ''Pooja'' in 'K3G' & ''Tina Kapoor'' (yes, I stole her name. Shoot me:) in 'MDK'.

Now for Karan. We see Karan as a vibrant, virile, young man ready to greet the day with song number #2 - ''Good Morning, India'' in the shower, the bridge, and the kitchen. I must say that despite Fardeen's lack of grace in dancing (which is more rehearsed like Justin Timberlake as oppose to fluid like Michael Jackson) doesn't deter me from appreciating his full impact as a star. With his fair, smooth skin, awesome biceps & a full head of dark hair, he is drool worthy. I just couldn't keep my eyes off him. I haven't panted this hard since 1999 in the good ol' Hrthik Roshan days. So he can't dance or emote as good as Hrthik, so what? Fardeen is da BOMB! Both of these kids share a common dilemma. Khushi's dad (played amazingly well as usual by Amrish Puri) insist that she get married to the boy of his bidding. Karan on the other hand, insist that he wants to go study in Canada (why is it always Canada?) much to his parents disapproval, he goes...or so we'd like to think. Khushi agrees to the marriage but days later she is handed a letter from the would be groom about his regret in not marrying her due to the fact that he's in love with another girl. No marriage for Khushi.

Now our boy Karan drives off to the airport for his flight to Canada but, yes...of course, he meets with an accident where he lands in the hospital. To romanticize the plot even further, he get's a blood transfusion of Khushi's blood from an earlier scene where she donated her blood at a mobile blood bank. So now they MUST meet, right? Not yet. They meet in, of all places, a temple. A young disabled girl is performing a puja using lemon skin turned inside out & honey. As she lights the wick, both Khushi & Karan are touched (as am I). Then a gust of wind blows through the temple threatening to blow out the fire the disabled girl just lit. And to anybody who understands Hinduism, the flame is sacred & must never be put out so our Hero & our Heroine rush to save the flame from extinguishing. Then they meet. Eyes locked into one another. Heart skips a beat. Boy likes girl, girl thinks boy is hot as hell. A few jokes are exchanged, a few glances, some college brouhahas & then it's song number #3 - 'Tere Bina'. All I can say is WOW. This is the slickest, most over-produced Pepsi commericial ever made. The whole video is like Cirque de Soleil, Chicago, and a Britney Spears video all rolled into one. We see Fardeen dance & grunt in shiny patent leather pants. We see Kareena's glamorously svelte body, in the tiniest sequined tube tops & various skin tight pants. I'd hate to say it but I actually LOVE this video & it ranks second only to 'K3G's' ''You are my Soniya'' video.

Cut to the next scene where Khushi & Karan do more cute stuff, argue, act cute again & argue some more then it's song number #4 - 'Hai Re, Hai Re'. We see Kareena & Fardeen in various costumes dressed as Sid and Nancy, Amos and Andy , fat cops, cowboys, and godknowswhat. This video is lame & I daresay very politically incorrect. As an Indian American, I don't think dressing up actors in blackface is humorous. It is insulting to Black people who might watch it. It wasn't cool in 'Hava-Havaii' & it isn't cool now. Sorry. More drama, more Johnny Lever (I love the Asha Bhosle spoof, BTW), then it's song number #5 - 'Jiya Maine Jiya'. This is your typical Bollywood song & dance number where the two young lovers finally realize they were meant for each other thus they run across the fields of green in loving embrace. Yawn I've said enough already so I'll just let you guys figure out the ending or do what I did...watch it yourself & draw your own conclusions if 'Khushi'' is truly 'Khushi'.

I'd also like to add that I personally thought both Fardeen & Kareena look much older than 20. More like 26, if you ask me but so what. Also, Kareena needs to condition her hair because it looks fried from all the coloring & flat iron. She also looks absurd wearing so much makeup. I mean, who sleeps in false eye-lashes and two inch thick eyeliner, anyway? As for Fardeen, he's just sizzling. I don't care if he was caught purchasing cocaine a year ago. He is still hot but he may need to dance a bit more gracefully. Maybe Hrthik can teach him a few lessons.
