I saw this movie about a year ago before I just saw Golmaal [please see my review] recently. I was surprised to see these two great films were made by the great director Hrishikesh Mukherjee!.

My aunt recommended this movie to me... And BELIEVE ME... This is one movie you would want to watch over and over!

===

It starts off with a man, about 60 years of his age gardening. Then the music comes out along with the credits, title ''KHOOBSURAT''.

It has an interesting starcast along with (Dina Pathak). (who is my favourite).

In the very first scene, we see a nice house. (1st Household) Inside, we are in the living room, where the servants are preparing breakfast for their masters. Nirmila or ''Maa'' (Dina) comes in. She looks very strict with the dupatta around her head. She critically examines if the table is set properly along with the plates and food. Then we see that she is very upset to see mud on the floor. She asks the servants where did it come from, and the servants nervously replies that they don't know about this. We see that Nirmila is very stern about this. She is one tough old lady!

The house is quiet, just the way Nirmila likes it. She also likes it organized, in order and on time. Just like with her family. She expects them to wake up very early to do their prayers/rituals, come wash up and wear nice clothes, greet their family in an respectful way and have breakfast TOGETHER. Nirmila, if you look at it is the boss of the house, in which her husband, Dwarka Prasad Gupta (Played by Ashok Kumar) even has claimed that she is!

Upstairs, we see that Nirmila and Dwarka has 4 sons... The eldest one, is married and has a daughter. I don't remember very clearly, but I think he is a lawyer. We meet the second brother, who is a bachelor and is in the marraige age, he too is a lawyer. Then comes the third, who happens to be one of the main characters, named Inder (Played by good-looking Rakesh Roshan) who just became a doctor recently. Finally, the youngest kiddo, the one who is different apart from the others, Jagan (Played by Ranjit Chowdhury). Jagan, is very young who is still doing his studies in front of his mom, yet fooling around behind her back such as listening to music and slacking off. We see that Jagan is the last to come to the table without any ''baniyan'' (undershirt). There were a couple of things Nirmila was upset about Jagan: his hair, no undershirt and coming late to the table while everyone was there. Before they began, Nirmila interrupts by asking who made a mess on the floor, (the mud). She suspects it was her husband who did it, since he is fond of gardening. It is very funny to come across what does Ashok says in this scene. Don't worry, it's not a serious movie! It's hilarious! You must see the idea of how this family is, and how the other one is, in which I am about to tell you:

The second household. We see a rather older man, about Dwarka's age, it happens to be David a great actor also. I forgot his name in this movie... Anyways, he happens to be calling a girl's name very loudly, as you can see, he is looking for someone. This house is more carefree, loud and fun. Anju, happens to be David's daughter in this movie, these two have a very good relationship with each other as well as David's other daughter, Manju (Played by great actress REKHA). Manju is the main character in this movie. These three plus the servant are the only ones in this home. Yet they are always having fun together and acting as kids. Manju, is a strong, carefree smart girl who just likes to have fun and doesn't care what people thinks of her. Anju, is a quiet girl who loves her father and sister dearly. Anju is in her age where she needs to find a nice groom and family. During the card playing scene (which is cute and funny) one of David's friend came over to talk about the family he knows thier son who would like to marry Anju. (Yes, the first household!)

So we have come across, the two families and how they are. There are great funny moments between Nirmila and Dwarka, and how he is sometimes scared of her. (Like the tea scene when he wanted one.).

Manju, being stubborn as she is, doesn't like the fact that ''the boy comes over and decides if he likes the girl or not''. She get upset with that fact, and tries to fool the family into dressing up her sister in a bold way. Yet it was surprising with the fact that the family liked Anju very much. There happens to be cute moments between Inder and Manju when they meet and etc.

So the wedding is held and everyone is happy, except for Manju. She seems depressed when Anju is not there anymore. So her father considered her to go and visit her. Manju leapt up in her feet and rushed to there. That same day, the 1st house is quiet and Anju is getting along with everyone, and everyone adores her. She is ''in'' with the family and following all the rules of the house and doesn't mind about it. They are having breakfast when they hear a loud shreik... ''DIIIIDIIIIIIII!!!! DIIIIIDIIIII!!''... (Sister, sister)... It was Manju calling from outside, screaming like anything in excitement. She runs in, and hugs her sister like anything. A very funny scene and you should see the look on Nirmila face. Manju grabs the paratha off the plate and eats it without using a plate and standing up excitingly. Anju gives her the ''look'', and Manju is like ''what?''. Lol.... everyone is surprised about this... But they don't seem to mind. Nirmila replies to this, she is a guest, and she can do whatever she wants. More cute moments between Inder and Manju when they try to fool each other in front of everyone and cracking jokes at each other. Manju is surprised to see everyone is like this... And she becomes even more surprised to see thier hidden truth! They like the things to do but they can't do it in front of ''the boss'':

1) The first son's wife loves to dance

2) The two elder brothers love to play cards

3) The youngest son loves music

4) Dwarka likes to sing

5) And everybody wants to have fun!

So Manju decides to ''spice things up'' in this house, and there are good amusing moments.

Well, I think I have covered most of this film up, and now it is for you to see and find out what happens next in this great family/comedy film.
