I'd always heard about Khajuraho in adult sense as if i've to grow old to a level to visit there, recently I got an oppurtunity to go to Khajuraho some months back.
We first visited a nearby falls called Rainey Falls which are dry these days, but I still liked it because of the whole canyon thing there, i was told it was all made out of volcanic eruptions.We also visited a nearby sanctuary by Safari and got glimpses of neelgay and langurs.We couldn't sight ghadiyals, but could see some foreign immigratory birds.I really enjoyed rainey falls and the surroundings.I also saw old photographs in an exhibition hall when the falls were flooded.
We then headed towards famous shiv temple which had a huge shivling inside it.Adjacent to the temple is the famous south group of temples for which everybody comes to Khajuraho.These are several temples in a compound devoted to different gods and I think the architecture is worth watching.Also every aspect of life is depicted in these temples.
We also visited some Jain temples which are similar to south group temples, but minus the intimate postures seen in earlier temples.
In the evening, we came back to south group temples to see light and sound show, commentary is given by Amitabh bachchan.It was just great.It shows how these temples were made and drowned in forests and then again found by a British officer.
We then visited an emporium called shilpgram which had nice things, but very expensive.We then went to MP tourism folk show which was entertaining.
Lastly we went to a seven star hotel called Hotel Lalit for Dinner which had panna restaurant which had good food and good service.it was taken by Late Lalit Suri from ITDC.
All in all, it was a good visit, very good visit.Khajuraho is neat and clean and serene.They hosted Global investors summit some time back.It got its name from Khajur trees which are in plenty there.
I recommend Khajuraho to everybody except children due to adult content there.
