I had initially though that I would get the Aqua Guard e-boiling+ Nova system installed in my house. I asked the technicians from Eureka Forbes and Kent to measure the TDS (Total Dissolved Salts) in the water supply of my house. It was between 500 to 600 and hence it was recommeded that I get a Reverse Osmosis water purifier. I started evaluating the options from both the companies.
Firstly the offering from Eureka Forbes. Eureka Forbes sells Reviva in the RO category and it is a new product. When I asked the sales representative that I wanted a demo of the reviva system they seemed hesitant. And they got on my nerves by calling every alternate day to fix up an appointment for giving the demo of the aquaguard e-boiling+ Nova water purifier. Everytime I asked them to give me a demo of the Reviva. Finally the representative said that the Nova was better and that it would anyway remove 70% of the hardness and what I needed was not the Reviva but the Nova. That was the last straw and I dropped Eureka Forbes. They just were not willing to sell the Reviva. I wonder why.
Then came Kent. The sales guy in this case was more informed. He came with a technician, evaluated the place I had chosen to install and verified and passed it. Then he gave a demo wherein the results were as follows:
input TDS: 560
output TDS: 30
waste water TDS: 650+
It was the real thing.
The Kent Grand Super comes with an 8litre capacity tank and that is very convenient, especially in areas that have power fluctuations.
The company provides free installation, including the drilling on my granite counter top for the water outlet. They provide an inspection every 4 months and for the first year it is free. The company has an AMC (annual maintenance contract) after the 1st year and I feel that it is a tad bit expensive for just 3 visits a year.
The water quality is really good. Its TDS is infact lower than a bottled water brand that I was using. The taste is good and there is no odour in the water. I am very satisfied.
Advice to people planning to buy an RO system:
If your house is new and the plumbing is not done yet, get a technician from the company to inspect and mark your wall for the installation. They will tell you to create a water outlet for the waste water to be disposed/collected. The waste water can be used for watering plants.
Even if you have water supplied by the city corporation, do get the TDS measured or atleast get the water analysed. In big cities, the water flows through all sorts of places (watershed) and that determines the contaminants in the water. One of the most startl;ing contaminant is sewage. Yuk!
Do bargain. Eureka Forbes sells only at the MRP. But the Kent fellow gave me a discount. If you can get a discount on the AMC that is better than a discount on the cost because you will require maintenance.
