The charisma of kareena !. Review on Kareena Kapoor

a vigurous youthful lass entered the industry when there was already a huge competition among the newcomers to become the numero uno - preity zinta wa trying out different roles and had already established a lovable bubbly character for herself, aishwarya rai was hot with two blockbusters like hum dil de chuke sanam and taaland rani mukherji was the lucky mascot of the season.

but she came, saw and conquered. she made news with her transparent beauty and pompous statements only as she can. she became the talk of the town. she was proudy, she was enticing and she was brutally honest unlike any other actress. she even dared to refuse a film with rakesh roshan which later went on to become the biggest hit of the year, just because her role was not substantial. a project with j.p.dutta to debut with and who was gonna stop her now ?

cut to november 2006, she has done 30 odd films, has only two hits and 4 average flicks to her credit, but still has projects with mani ratnam, vishal bhardwaj, dharma productions, satish kaushikand and is roaring to go. yes, we are talking about the vivacious and dynamic kareena kapoor.

the fire with in the grand most daughter of raj kapoor has not yet died and her conviction has paid off. kareena kapoor is the quintessence of how an ambitious actress with not very great talent as a performer but a great screen presence and a courage to endure the fire test of box office can survive triumphantly. refugee bombed but this demure lady made her presence felt. she even did films with dharmesh darshan to capture the interiors market and even failed to some extent. but the biggies were always there for her.

and its not the case that she has a good reputation with all her colleagues. she shares cold wibes with preity zinta, she is said to have fought with bipasha and amisha when she was new [ though she has patched up with bipasha, we hear ], she had no great bonding with aishwaryatoo. its just her sheer charisma that gets her going despite all the ill fate.

agreed, she has not done much great work in all her films, she over acted quite often, and to top it all, she even blowed her trumpet all the time. but the lady must be appaluded for breaking the line and yet coming up trumps.

she refused a film with karan johar, when she needed it badly and which later took preity to no. 1 slot, she gave angry diatribes against sanjay leela bhansali, just because he didnt find her appropriate for paro after promising her the role. and when all the leading ladies were trying to hide their boyfriends' names and to keep it secret, she openly admitted shahid kapoor was her man and had no qualms in doing so.

she has always done the most unusual things under the sun and has yet survived. she earned films with mani ratnam, govind nihlani, sooraj badjatya, karan johar, sudhir mishra, subhash ghai and abbas mustan. and after much striving, her acting prowess seems to have nourished. her performances in dev, asoka and yuvawent unnoticed but her interpretation of desmodona aka dolly in omkara didnt do so and will be cherished for a long time.

and what more can one can ask for, she has even softened in her interviews and sounds much more calculating and sensible now a days. just wait for her take offs in mr. mehta and mrs. singh and lajjo where she pairs with aamir khan and see how she fades off her vibrant image just as she did in deva and omkara and hogs away all the limelight in the near future.

dont get me wrong. i am not against other actresses. rani mukherji is my favourite, preity zinta is much better than ever before and aishwarya looks the most promising as far the future projects go. but still, kareena kapoor has not got her due still and is yet to explode her latent talent.
