After watching the movie Kannathhil Muthhamittal I just could not prevent myself from writing its review.
The film is about a young child who wants to meet her biological mother after she comes to know that she is adopted and her loving foster parents help her in the pursuit.
Mani Ratnam has brought out the acting talent in Simran to the fullest extent through this movie.She has given a brilliant and a superb performance as a affectionate mother to her daughter.Most of her earlier films used to limit her talent to just song sequences or as a glamourous woman. But ''Kannathil Muthamittal'' proves her acting prowess.The scene where she is angry with her daughter for going away from home and is found at the railway station and later forgives and hugs and kisses her brings tears to the eyes.Great job Simran.
The enchanting song picturization of the title song ''KANNATHIL MUTHAMITTAL'' involving Keerthana with Simran and then with Madhavan keep the audience mesmerized.All three of them touch your heart with their acting.
Madhavan has given an excellent performance in this movie as a loving father and a serious writer.(I like him since the days of ''Banegi Apni Baat'' in Zee TV).
Keerthana's performance as a daughter is superb.She is indeed the perfect choice to play the role of Amudha. One can definitely make out that she has a great career ahead. Last but not the least Nandita Das is excellent in the portrayal of a militant and a mother.
At the end of the film after meeting her real mother and watching her go when Keerthana kisses Simran and Simran is happy that her daughter loves her and all three huddle together under the umbrella makes a perfect ending for the film.
A.R.Rahman's music, Vairamuthu's beautiful lyrics, excellent cinematography, great story, Ravi K.Chandran's camera work, brilliant acting and Mani Ratnam's direction.There is not even a single dull moment in the film.The film makes us sit gripped to our seats. What more could one ask for?
Mani Ratnam comes out as a winner in the sensitive portrayal of the relationship of adopted daughter Amudha with her doting parents. Both her parents love her so much that the audience does not feel even for a single moment that she is adopted. This has been brought out so beautifully by Mani Ratnam.
With heart-tugging and tear jerking scenes and melodious songs the film is worth watching not once but many times.Great job Sir.Keep it up.
