Its a bit late in the day to review KHNH but since its the last movie i've seen it was the only choice I had....
Kal Ho Naa Ho marks the debut of director Nikhil Advani who was an assistant to Karan Johar but it actually should have been the other way round coz he is a far better director than the latter...
THE STORY.....There isn't much of a story but it goes like this SHAHRUKH LOVES PREITY AND PREITY LOVES SHAHURKH BUT SHAHRUKH HAS CANCER SO HE LIES ABOUT ALDREADY BEING MARRIED.....HENCE PREITY GETS MARRIED TO SAIF ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT SHAHRUKH ACTUALLY RECIPROCATES HER FEELINGS BUT DOES NOT ACCEPT HER DUE TO HIS ILLNESS. Add a bit of comedy,masala,songs,melodrama and you get a Kal ho Naa ho!
Why KHNH is good...
First and foremost Shahrukh Khan is actually not embarissing expect for a few scenes where he is the same old stupid himself.
The second half does not suffer from the cliched 'everyone returns to india' syndrome.
Preity Zinta and Saif are gr8!!
The designer outfits and the glamourous city of NY is fun to watch!
Jaya Bachchan thankfully has lost a lot of weight and spares our eyes from those hideous faces she made in KKKG.....also her role isn't limited to putting tikkas and tilaks and singing ATTI KYA KHANDALA and confusing us as to weather she is crying or laughing!
Kajol and Rani have fantastic cameos in the song MAHI VE!
Why it isn't excellent...

The story streaches to no lengths....the first half should have been shortened by 15mins since nothing much is happening except Shahrukh behaving like an idiot and getting on everyone's nerves with his ''i am so happy with life even when I am about to die.....u guys better learn to be like me'' act.
They should have edited the DAY ONE......DAY SIX bit since it was absolutely unnecessary.
I can neither stand Uday Chopra nor Sunjay kapoor so they spoiled it with their unnecessary appearences!
Though not embarissing Shahrukh is not too good either!!

The cinematography, music, editing, sets, costumes are asusual fantastic like any other Karan Johar film!
The song ''MAHI VE'' and KAL HO NAA HO'' are really picturised well and also sound nice to the ears....the rest of the songs are decent but nothing great.
THE ACTING....
PREITY: She fits the role to the T. It gives me the jitters to think what Kareena would have done....anyway Preity has done a gr8 job!!
SAIF: Saif is good too although his role is jsut an extension of his role in DIL CHAHTA HAI. He is getting steriotyped into playing a casanova.
SHAHRUKH: He was ok....infact I thaught he would be really embarissing but thankfully I was wrong!
JAYA BACHCHAN: She was better than what she did in K3G
Lilette Dubay was BAD......the others were decent!

The director does a decent job and the story by Karan Johar is simple. The comedy is good film is apealing....and a complete entertainer!!
