Never has such a star cast been assembled for such a shoddy story line. Karan Johar’s much talked about film Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham leaves me wondering why I wasted those hours watching the movie? May be I wanted to find out about the hype created for the movie came from. Remember the line it is all about loving your parents. I could not see any dose of it in this movie. Infact there are numerous other movies that have been made on really loving your parent(s). You can even call Yaadein as one such film, but not K3G.

It has a galaxy of stars,

  • Amitabh Bachchan who is probably the only actor to have survived the industry through the ages, who at this age outshines his young son! I liked him in the role, though it was a repeat of mohabbetein character. There he had a daughter and here he has two sons.

  • Shahrukh Khan!

  • Hrihtik Roshan, heartthrob of the nation. Should I use a past tense here? Not! My personal opinion is that he looked great, danced as only Hrihtik can dance and acted well.

  • Jaya Bachan, I have always been a fan of this graceful actress. To be frank, she did not have much to do in this film.

  • Kajol, one of the best and the most versatile actress. But did I not feel that she was just too loud at times? Though I am a great fan of hers, she did not deserve the best actress award that went to her for this movie (she got one didn't she?)

  • Kareena Kapoor, the current favorite actress. ! I liked her costumes and she did did look good, but that can't stop me from wondering what she was doing in this movie? It was a real pain tolerating her and her attitude! Kareena is like Urmila--you see a couple of movies, and then you have seen it all. She does not have much talent to show off. The same set of expressions, the same style of speech in all her her movies, nothing new.

  • Rani Mukherjee, in a tiny little special appearance. She came in gracefully and made a graceful exit as well. As usual she made a mark in a small, but significant role.

Yashovardhan Raichand (Amitabh Bachchan) and his wife Nandini (Jaya Bachchan) have raised their sons Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan) and Rohan (Hrithik Roshan) showering them with love and affection. Yash has tried to pass on to his sons the values, the heritage, and the rich traditions of his family, which he cherishes and holds in great regard. Nandini shares a special bond with her sons, specially with Rahul, who's an adopted child. At the age of 8 Rahul found that out at that he was adopted and it has been the reason for his unending devotion and gratitude for his parents. Every word and wish of his father becomes an unwritten commandment for him........until he falls in love!

Rahul falls in love with Anjali (Kajol), not don't you think you have heard these names somewhere in a movie made by Karan Johar? YES! it was in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai! (please excuse my interruptions). To continue with the story, Anjali is a bubbly girl from a middle class family, who dotes on her younger sister Pooja (Kareena Kapoor) and cares about her father. Rahul marries her and and brings her home. Yash is in a fit of anger, in this situation the proud stubborn man reminds Rahul that he did what he did because he is only an adopted son. Rahul decides to leave home, he leaves the very mother who lavished all her love and affection for him unconditionally. All this while Rohan is not aware of what has happened back home (he is tucked far away in a boarding school). I don't know how this can happen in a normal family! Anyway, when Rohan comes to know about what happened to his Bhaiya, he decides to re-unite the family. That's his only mission in life!

The choreography is good, the outfits are trendy, the locations are great, and the songs offer a wide variety to the viewers. The performances were just about OK! It is time for Karan Johar to grown out of Kuchh Kuchh Hota Hai! Most of the time, you can call a typical Hindi good enough if you are willing to ignore the mistakes, overacting, underacting, and stupidness of some parts. But if you try to do the same here, there is absolutely nothing to watch except the songs! You can do without watching the movie!
