Sab ne Alvida kaha. Review on Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna

Needless to say miracles are expected of a karan johar film and I think it has been widely agreed that KANK fell short somehow. Lets talk about that first and then i'll get to the review of the plot. When the movie began, it felt the story was running away from you and you could not connect with the characters - it was an abrupt beginning of sorts. With everyone being introduced all together, you feel you were hit by a train! Once you come to grips with all this, you try your best to relate to the plot. now here goes - you can see why there were problems between preity and shahrukh as preity was too busy in her career to work on her marriage and shahrukh was too much of an egoist to be able to come to terms with his handicap and his wife's success. But what's up with abhishek and rani!? rani was a sourface throughout the film for no major reason and abhishek was a perfectly good acceptale husband! Anway, all in all I did not agree with the prmeise of the movie. Under no circumstance should extra marital affairs be OK - it is disrespectful to the sanctity of the relationship. A marriage is a sacred bond and we're fast losing it as it is - we dont need movies to endorse the idea. Mohabbat kee nahi jaati hojaati hai - not true. You can learn to love - and its easier when it is with someone who already loves you. You just need to look beyond yourself - since when did love become about being selfish!? hence after watching the film I was not impressed but the mere fact that it got me talking, thinking and writing about important relationships in our lives makes me give this movie 3 stars. Oh! have to add Kiron Kher was good and I wish all mother in laws were like that (wink, wink).

All in all the performance by each cast member is what makes the movie - however SRK is over-rated. His acting as an irritated, insecure guy was un-believable (in the bad way) and he lookd more like his exagerrated darr character than anything else. Abhsihek is improving day by day and is quickly topping my fav list. Rani was superb as usual whereas preity could have been a little less cute - she isnt 18 anymre! Amitabh needless to say was good.

Oh one more thing - and this is for karan johar - Dude! the movie plot is spread over 10 years - atleast the fashion sense/hairstyles of one character should have changed! they all have the same do throughout the 10 years!!!
