KANK provides us with plenty of moments to remember. And smile. But that is not the only reason why kank leaves its imprint. Oh! The direction is brilliant. Everything, from colourful sets, to NeyYork and performances , everything is so wonderful.

But is KANK one for that treasure trove? Umm. Not quite. But it could well have been there, somewhere among the best. But the way things turn out in the second half, it falls short. By a fair distance. And a film that could have been great and memorable is reduced to one that is good and lively without challenging those perched right up there.

Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna' is about two couples; Dev Saran (Shah Rukh Khan) and his wife Rhea (Preity Zinta), and Rishi Talwar (Abhishek Bachchan) and his wife Maya (Rani Mukherji). The couples are not related but circumstances bring them together.Of course, there is Rishi's father, Sam (Amitabh Bachchan), and Rhea's mother (Kirron Kher) too in the film.

Rhea and Dev's marriage is in a bit of trouble despite a young son, Arjun. Dev is a football player who has to give up playing because of a leg injury. He limps throughout the film. Rhea assumes that Dev resents her success.

kank succeeds in keeping you engaged. If the portions in first half are light ,breezy and frothy, post interval the scenes are dramatic enough . Karan succeed in drawing out emotions in their characters. Also noteworthy are the scenes of confrontation between Couples. Watch out for the scene where Preity slaps SRK!

But on the flip side, the film is painfully long and does dilute the impact by a large degree. It could have done with at least 30 minutes of snipping including the title song! The music is lively but it has a typical SEL flavour.

Rani is brilliant with her mind-blowing performance. SRK has been a competent actor for years and he maintains his positive work. Preity is completely neglected in the film. Abhishek is undoubtedly the winner with his brilliant dramatic presentation

On the whole, KANK is very unlike the usual Bollywood fares.kARAN deserves all the accolades for attempting to be different though the result could have been far more superior..
