I owned r15 v2 before and I own duke 390 now. It is a myth yamaha servicing is expensive. The chain set for duke 390 costs about 3000( I don't remember the exact value). On the ktm you need to change parts like filters, spark plugs, tires and chain set more often than the yamaha. Plus in yamaha bikes 1st, 6 servicing are free! For bajaj/ktm only 1st, 3 servicing are free. Labour charges are on par with each other. I hate the fact that motorbeam too are spreading such myths. The r15 was way more cheaper to maintain than the 390. Even the spare parts of r3 which require periodic replacement(brake pads, chain etc) are way more cheaper than the ninja. Only place where the ktm has the advantage is in the case of an accident/crash ktm bikes are cheaper to repair, thanks to sub par quality of plastics and certain metal parts( foot-rests, levers etc).
