I went to see this movie with my boyfriend tonight. I was really wasn't expecting much I figured that I would be bored and waiting for the credits. Man I was wrong....
Slyvester Stallon did an amazing job of telling the story of what war is really like. I actually felt ill at times during the movie. I wish I could say that it was simply due to the graphic seens on the screen but the truth is that the violence in this movie made me think about our soliders over seas, and the people in countries where this kind of violence is a way of life for them.
It was an eye opening experience for me to see the effects that a mine can cause on the human body or how a 50 calliber gun can rip apart a man not to mention a child.
Stallone made me grateful that I am able to wake up every day in a safe place and that I do not have to worry every time I hear the sound of a truck out side my home.
I have seen many other movies about war, Saving private ryan, windtalkers, even platoon none of them had the effect on me that Rambo did this evening. It actually had me so intrigued that I jumped in my seat a few times.
One of the things that I found so touching was that John Rambo spoke very little but when he did it was important. There wasn't much dialog in the movie at all actually. John Rambo isn't a cold blooded killer and I don't see him as an evil character as one of the reviews says. He seem to me to be someone who doesn't really seek out violence. He would rather just live a life of peace. However due to his training and skill he has a talent for what he does and when a situation arises he is willing to lay it all on the line for a cause he believes in.
I am glad that I went to see this flim tonight because I feel as though I am more aware of the true cost of war now that I have seen Stallone's flim. I have always been a fan of Sylvester Stallone and how hard he worked to achieve the success that he has. I am an even bigger fan now that I have seen this film.
So if you go in with an open mind you may find yourself actually learning something from this flim. Not to mention that it is worth seeing just because it is Rambo and he is still cool and tough.
