Well, as I write this, let's not forget one thing u JA fans: I used to be one of you not long before. But while writing this, things have changed and how! Watch out and u'll know! People, as many of you can read my Abhishek Bachchan review, you will know why I am trashing JA. Well these are two different people yet according to many future competitors for no.1 spot!
Well to me the competition was on only as far as Dhoom, then it has become one sided, if John fans kindly admit. Abhishek was a flop actor in the beginning. But then in detail u can ready my review to know more. But I was always an admirer of Abhishek for one reason---he was a solid performer and he learnt from his mistakes, he basically never gave up in life until he is on the top of the world these days! And still u will see him silencing his critics with spellbinding performances like Sarkar, and oh well Dus and oh well what not! Watch JA, he has nothing of the sort to his credit. A few days ago a guy argued that man John stole the show from Abhishek in Dhoom. I asked why, and he tells me: ''COZ JOHN looks SUAVE on bikes''. Dude give me a break. Is Bollywood all about looking good on those damn bikes. If it is, then kindly give me a break.
Fortunately the majority has been sensible enough to give Abhishek the edge, at least after watching his recent performances. And u'll see that AB Jr. is the only stagnant name in this review for a reason. As I said I always stood by AB Jr. until he now topped..well I never change my choices anyways, even Saif, Fardeen, and Bobby are my favorites and I won't change them...coz they are rising too! So what with John? Well John was different. He was the only favorite I had who was never unsuccessful. He came with a bang in Jism. And I went by his performance saying this guy has substance. His Saaya made me his hardcore fan! And then Paap came out, I was simply blown off. I appreciated each and every one of his performance. As soon as Shahid won the best debut awards, I was like, come on, John deserved better! Unfortunately this apparently discouraged John.
His next Aetbaar was a trade disaster and then followed some other indifferent movies. But in 2004 when Lakeer came out, I said, watch out, this is an image changer for John, people will surely appreciate him after this. Imagine me sitting betting with some people how John will be a winner. But alas, what I see is that actors like Sunil Shetty, Sunny Deol, Sohail Khan, and hell even Nauheed Cyrusi overshadow him. I was shocked. How could I have a favorite who just can't deliver infront of these actors. If he can't beat them, how will he compete with my other fav. Abhishek who just stole the show from the likes of Ajay Devgan and Vivek in YUVA! And then forget about AB sr. and people infront of whom he never delivered in the past (Aetbaar) and could never deliver in future (I realized this after watching Lakeer). I was totally letdown by John! But then came Dhoom, that brought two of these favorites I had together in one frame. From there I had to decide...who does better wins!
And to me, Abhishek was a winner in the movie, all the way. Right from Shikdum song to his climax action, I think he was the best. But then John too wasn't that far behind and was much better than Lakeer, I thus gave him the edge too and both were still in my top contender list followed by Saif, Bobby, Fardeen, etc. After Dhoom, AB Jr. comes back with Phir Milenge and Naach (some critical acclaim) and a hat-trick of hits (Bunty aur Babli, Sarkar, and Dus)! This guy simply wins the race by a huge margin. Why, coz what does John Abraham give us? Well let us analyze. I think this guy took his success in Dhoom to his head, especially after winning the award and then went on to give dud after dud, proving everytime that he's a big proof of increasing lackluster in Bollywood!
In line, Madhoshi, where all he did was smoke disgusting bidis and give even a more disgusting performance in an even more disgusting role. It was a big BO dud and rightly so even Priyanshu bettered him! Then came Elaan, well give me a break, another big dud. Same stereotypic, typecasted role. He smokes, he screams, he hams, and well I felt like punching him, or rather punching myself for once having a favorite like him. And then he does Kaal, to further humiliate he repeats his Madhoshi and Elaan acts even worsely and I was ridiculed to see him in the movie. Even a guy named Bagga overshadowed him and Vivek in the pathetic movie! John then is coming back in Viruddh! My advice for people who are unfortunately still his fans: you cannot expect much from JA except for getting badly sidelined and overshadowed by AB Sr. and Dutt, expect THAT!
So basically, Saif, Fardeen, and Bobby have leapfroged John in my top list. Even Dino Morea to me is better, at least he keeps it simple and doesn't overact! John is purely overexposed, and that's a sad reality! Reality check, huh? Talk about it and you'll know. Some people say he's the future superstar; I say when he's not happening right NOW, doesn't that sound like an overstatement. Especially someone who got beaten by Sohail Khan, well even Sohail is coming up and being more happening than JA after Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya!
Overall, a 2 star dud! U deserve it John. You're a non-actor and need to improve. I regret making you a favorite. And it's better that you too forget about coming in the leagues of AB Jr. until you actually come up better on TOTALITY BASIS! And hey JA fans, don't just tell me he rocks coz he's SUAVE or Bombshell or watever, coz my response will be, GUYS, give me a BIG BREAK!
