Jannat - Mera Janmat. Review on Jannat

Jannat.gets my janmat.my vote!

There are some films which are destined to be hits.the timing is perfect the situation nationally as if screaming for a film on match fixing.no recent blockbusters  and music that had already become a favorite. It was if Jannat itself was scheming for Jannt to be a hit. And who can fight with the gods!

Emran hashmi was somebody I never took seriously.one for his awkward face and next for his debacles. He was at best a nephew of Mahesh Bhatt who struck it lucky.like he has this time too. This film would have been a hit with or without Emraan.

Its not a masterpiece, its not even a film that one watches awe struck. Its just simply a story well told.

There was a time in our films .the older films I see which my mother loves. Arth types where story was supreme, and that was it. In this film too the maker has intended to delve into his characters with sincerity and told his tale. Definitely not a job which makes one sit up and take notice but simply one which involves you thoroughly. and that is a huge compliment.

The character sketch of Sameer, a gambler by nature and a romantic at heart. someone who lives for the day and enjoys life fully. was well typified. It got you hooked onto his journey and kept you engrossed. The one way street to crime and the path that is endless. is the story in a nutshell.

Mahesh Bhatts Naam before this was similar and a CLASSIC. This film is nowhere close though it touches on the same emotion.

Performance wise the lead pair was strictly OKAY. the girl Sonal Chauhan is not going to make it BIG. She was just there. that is it. Emraan hashmi must do something about his hair. was he wearing a toupee or  his locks so darn .yech!

The Director Kunal Deshmukh makes an honest debut.

Cinemtography didint leave you gasping but not cold either. It brought out the mood and subtly.

Flaws were there in the script. but thats okay.no film is perfect. The first half was immature and tacky in some places. It was juvenile actually. Also I wish to ask the Director how does Sonals ring land up with Emraan each time he leaves the house even though he has been kicked out. Its not as if she handed it to him at the door. And mind you the ring was a major prop in the film. so that is why this query was crucial.

All in all. a film which is to be seen.not because its great but because few films like these are made today where a simple narration moves you. Its like an 80's film with its heart in the right place.
