Terima Kasih means Thank I got a real cheap flight with Thai Lion Air for 3090thai baht from Bangkok to Jakarta, and I am glad I did.
The first warning is that Jakarta is not the right choice for you if you enjoy the night life.
It took me 3 hours to fly from Donmuang to Jakarta. My first shock was that the customs of this country is available ONLY in bahasa Indonesian. However, the crew has helped every passenger to fill this form. The immigration was fast and smooth.
I tried the airportLINK which costs me around 70000RP. Then, I took bus to my hotel. Seems like the bus is run by the government and you can use the valuecard to pay for the ticket. However, anytime you top up the card, you will lost 1500RP for the service charge.
1 thing that the Jakarta city must improve is the pavement. It is difficult to walk where the roads are fixed.
I started my first day to walk around the national monument which is the landmark of this city. The park is not always opened. You are also not allowed to carry the plastic bag inside this park. This monument is the symbol of the independence.
Since I spend most of time in the Netherlands, Indonesia food is not new for me. But what made me surprised is the taste of the sauce here and that of in Holland is quite similar. There are a lot of Dutch words in Bahasa like Receipt, Bus stop, amount of money etc
second day of my journal at Taman Mini. The cable car was scary and overpriced. The park is not well-maintained, and it is located 16kilos away from the city. Some fake building look nice but I would recommend that you go to Jarkarta Historical museum and spend half day there. There is also Wayang Museum which is the puppets museum. The entrance fee of both museum is only 1500RP.
In general, people here are friendly but they got thing done quite slowly.
On the last day, I took Damri bus from Gambir station to the airport. It costs 40000RP for the ticket.Traffic in Jakarta on Monday morning is not so bad. The food at the airport was also not expensive. There are 3 terminals here. So, you have to check with your airport which terminal you have to board the aircraft.
