The Amer Fort is a huge complex high upon a rocky crest. The complex is made up of the fort, plus palaces, temples and courtyards. It was originally constructed by Raja Man Singh and was added onto by others through the ages.
It was principally a fortification and that obvious by its location, high walls, multiple gates and the surrounding fortifications that look like the great wall of China. Inside, you'll find palaces such as the Sheesh Mahal ( Palace of Mirrors) that are breath-takingly beautiful. There are courtyards and gardens which give it more of a feeling of being a palace then a fortress.
Upon arrival at the fort you will have the option of making your way up to the gate by way of elephant or walking.
If you are visiting Jaipur this another must see sight.
