She left him because she loved him... That was ' Meera'... how ironical but true that you love someone so much that you choose to leave him or her and live without him or her all your life. Does such love exist? I know half the world is still pondering if anything called "Love" exist. Some of us will deny and some of us will vouch for love .. But whichever boat you are in, as you sit through the romantic journey called "Jab tak hai Jaan" you will helplessly hope to find such love (or just love) someday.

That’s the magic Yash Chopra has created through years and once again he does it with JTHJ, while he chose to bow out of the world. As a filmmaker you need to have faith in the story/thoughts that you present through your film. The legend Yash Chopra is a man who over the years has not only believed in love but also held each one of us over generations with his films and made us believe, hope and understand that 'Love' is an integral part of our life and if we didn't love we didn't live.

'Jab tak hai Jaan' is a story about three individual with their definition of love and how they choose to love the person they are madly in love with.

Samar Khan (Shahrukh Khan) is a member of bomb disposal squad who doesn't wear his suit while doing so because he wants to prove "Meera" and her God wrong someday. Meera is the girl whom he loved.

Meera (Katrina Kaif) is beautiful God fearing girl who practices barter system with God. If she wants something, she promises God to give up on something she loves for it and one day she had to let go the most precious thing.

Akira (Anushka Sharma) is today’s generation happy-go-lucky girl who wants to join Discovery channel. She bumps into Samar khan one day and read his life story through a personal diary of his and falls for him.

And then series of life twisting events (which will remind you of Yash ji's old films) takes place and how they all come facing each other torn between love, belief, choices and sacrifice.

All the actors have done justice to their characters. Shahrukh is less of Shahrukh and more of the character in the film. Katrina is good at what she does best "Looking beautiful" in the film. Anushka Sharma has proven herself as an actress already.

Film is beautifully made in very Yash Chopra way and will remind you of many of his earlier work. But that does not mean he has not upgraded to suit the current generation. Character of 'Akira' will easily be empathized by our Y-generation kids.

The finest creative people from rest of the departments i.e Gulzar Sahab (lyricist), A. R Rehman (Music and Background Score) and Anil Mehta (Cinematography) have come together to give their best. Which does help in creating another piece of art but somewhere they still fail eventually. Apart from Cinematography and Direction nothing is as exemplary as it should have been. Except "Challa ki Labhda phire" you will not remember any other song of the film. A.R Rehman background score is more haunting and memorable than his music this time. Editing could have been tighter as the film runs for 2 hr 59 mins and drops at many places.

But baring these little disappointments, that are an outcome of our soaring expectations when such legends come together, JTHJ does move you. It makes you believe those beautiful chalked out characters of Samar, Meera and Akira even in today’s world and pushes you to take a step back and fall in love all over again.

Jab Tak hai Jaan to sum up, is about having faith in your Love ... believing that every 'Love' has set time and it will take that much time to happen... Till then

Either you can choose to let go the love of your life .. the way Meera did..

Or

You can choose to live with the hurt not knowing the real reasons behind it .. the way Samar did..

Or ..

to realise that love is about being selfless. If happiness of the one you love lies with someone else.. You have to make them meet not separate them away. .. the way Akira did.

Continue loving !!
