I understand that low cost airlines are struggling to make profits but that does not mean that they start treating it like a local bus and harass customers for making profits
Comparison of Basic Amenities (that every passenger expects) even in a Low Cost Airline
Drinking Water
Indigo: Water bottle is sold at Rs. 30 (No free water at all)
Kingfisher Red: Free water bottles
Spice Jet: Free water bottles
Jet Lite: Free water bottles
If you lost your wallet or out of change. You die of thirst.
Seat at Emergency Exit
Indigo: Cost additional Rs. 300
Kingfisher Red: Free of cost. First come first serve
Spice Jet: Free of cost. First come first serve
Jet Lite: Free of cost. First come first serve
It’s a small pleasure of relaxing journey and all of us try to arrive slightly early at the airport to get that ‘lil extra legroom
In-flight entertainment
Indigo: None. In-flight magazine provided is a catalogue of items that Indigo wants to sell to the fellow travellers ( at higher than market rates). Kingfisher Red: Music and LCD TV on few flights. On others a travel and leisure magazine
Spice Jet: Travel and leisure magazine
Jet Lite: Travel and leisure magazine. Lucky-draws. Also sell useful items at decent prices
If I am on a 2 hrs. flight or even on a 1 and half hrs. flight I look for something to read and last thing I want to look at is another salesman which Indigo presents as their catalogue
In-flight food
Indigo: It’s a dhaba . Cheap food at okay prices. Nothing complementary
Kingfisher Red: Complementary food. Decent in taste. Worth at least Rs. 100 – 200
Spice Jet: Good basic snack items at decent prices
Jet Lite: Complementary food. Decent in taste. Similar to Kingfisher Red
I am okay with spice jet food. Understand that I have paid less for this flight to a Rs. 100 extra for decent food is okay but a junk food at the same price offered by Indigo is a nightmare. So next time when you compare ticket prices online and find IndiGo cheaper than others, beware they have other tactics up their sleeves to fleece your hard earned money
