IndiGo - Punctual airline but I am still not happy

I am a regular traveler of this airline. May be 8 years now. After kingfisher shutdown it was the only choice compared to airindia and jet. Its a very very punctual airline. No complain in this matter. But when it comes to serve passenger with proper information, they are a huge cry. To reduce staff and cost, sometimes in 2011 they stopped loudspeaker announcement of flights ready for boarding. Also any flight if going via another stop then they do not show the stopover airport. They show the final destination. Unless you continuously looking at tv display for boarding plane schedule or the boarding gate display with exact flight number, you may miss the flight. iIt has happened to me once and I have seen many other passenger in same situation also. When I asked for any alternative, the lady flight attendant just tore the boarding pass in half and said you are late, we can not do anything. When I said the reason why I missed because of no announcement and miss information of stopover airport, she just said sir we can not educate you. This is airport. You should know how to board a plane in time. I had a very bad time locating my luggage next day as they have boarded on the plane and dispatched at stopover airport. I paid another 18k inr to go by airindia.


Another tactic of them was reducing baggage allowance. On my ticket it was written 20kg. While at counter they said it is 15 kg allowed and you have to pay 3800 inr extra. When I said on my ticket it is written 20kg, the attendant said we have published a notice on our site that all baggage allowance in domestic services are reduced to 15kg and should have checked it before. I paid and walkaway.


Another Tactics of them is planting boarding pass kiosks so that any passenger having only hand carry does not have to go for line to get boarding pass. But the trick is at the time of final boarding there will be a weight and size scaling machine to check your hand carry. If it is permissible size and 6kg of weight then ok. If not then you have to pay instantly the overweight money there. In this way they they are tricking passenger not to reduce there hand carry weight by putting something in to baggage and finally pay the fine.


Another problem they created is hand carry weight. Before 2011 one laptop bag and another hand carry of 7kg was allowed. Suddenly they changed the rule and only 6kg one bag was allowed. Anyone who does not knew the change went with two bags had to pay the fine including me.


If you are sleeping inside the flight, as they do not serve complementary food, then they should not ask you anything. But sometimes they will wake you and ask you. If you are unknown to fact that you have to pay then will take the food and then you have to pay. Same thing happens even you are awake and new to the flight. They will ask for any food and will not tell you have to pay. Then you have to pay when you realize you are fooled.


Only few I have mentioned here. Rest I will mention in another review. I wonder how they are getting best carrier of the year award every year.
